I painted/plastidipped my OEM wheels. Idk how I like it. Half of me says yay! The other half says boo!

Swapped on the summer running shoes and piled up the winter boots in the back of the garage.
Greased the rear calipers and added the rear caliper return springs to help the p-brake work properly.
Replace cracked RF fender liner w/ vented liner from ID Parts. Had to slightly redrill the 2 bottom front holes to get the screws in.

Thanks Eric, that's what I was going after when I took out the DG. I decided to bend over and get a Forge S2S. Just waiting on my Force Fed Engineering shift cable bracket bushings and I'll put them both in. So far I really like the HPA with the 42DD end bushings. Short and tight!
Ya, I got the 44DD bushings , and Matt made me a short shifter by drilling and filling a stock one. it is nice and crisp, but the side to side needs help... but it was VERY cheap!

Did my first oil and filter change on my new to me 2002 Jetta. 335k. Seems to be running very well. Can't complain.

Turns out it was a needle lift sensor fault. And he had experienced an overall loss of power. Bad fuel. We changed the fuel filter and car seems fine. Also did replace one burned out brake light bulb.
Got the snow tires off the car. That wasn't easy, forgot to use any anti-seize and they were stuck on. Drove the car around, seemed fine. Fueled it up this AM, give my son an extra filter in case, and he left for western MA. Back a few minutes later with the same fault codes. Couldn't clear them. No obvious electrical issues, but I don't know what's up. When it triggers the fault the power drops by half: I looked at fueling and it maxes out at 24 mg/stroke.

So he took the Passat and I'll have to figure out what's up with the Golf. Nice to have a spare car or two around.

Also pulled the Miata out of the garage and drove it around.

After sitting since December it fired right up. How not British!

Sell me the Miata?

I almost didn't come back to VW/TDIs because I want(ed) one so bad. But practicality got the best of me with 4 doors and a hatch. Any mods on the roadster?

It's bone stock, 1990, just turned 67K. I'm the third owner, only had it for a couple of years. I bought it for track days but honestly it's too nice to beat up on the track. Fun on the street, however. You can drive it flat out and no one notices. It alarmed me a bit yesterday to think that next year I can register it as an antique if I want.

Hey, Peter, you ought to come out to the 25th Anniversary Event at Laguna Seca in September. The goal is to get 1,000 Miatae on the track!

And fun. I drove mine to an international event up by Ottawa in 2002, then down to Staten Island and back to California via Gettysburg, PA. That was the trip that convinced me to get XM Radio! Think of it being like a TDIFest but without having to do any sales. :D

I was at a track day last year in my Miata and there was a guy there with a V8 conversion. He told me he had two: one with the V8 and one with a turbo kit. His comment was, "I ruined both."

There was a Mazdaspeed Miata with a turbo from the factory. With the Monster Miata V8 conversions the entire drive train is replaced. BTW, the block of the 1.6 (and early 1.8 until 2001) was from the Mazda 323's B6T turbocharged engine.

Just spent the last many days replacing Pass. door lock module. My VW recycler gave it to me and its all working perfectly now.

(Note to self) never disassemble the window regulator.

well this is still very raw for now, but just wanted to post some results and findings.
I wanted to do an Ambinent Door Light as they have on CC or B7 in Europe, i bought a 2mm fiber optic rod with 5mm led's on each end, turns out that's not enough ill try 7mm as my next step and hopefully result will be better

Here are some pics

Looks good. You don't need to change size, just luminosity. Now, I use mouser.com for most of my searching but it is not an end-all-be-all site. It's still very comprehensive.

Maybe you just need a S2S adjustment? That slot "should" only affect the throw assuming the cable length is right at the end.

Lock the tranny and shift lever in home position and see if there's slack to take up. That's my guess at least.

Finally fabbed up a turbo support bracket for my 2260vk and last week re-fit my downpipe and finished up my 3" turbo back. Also tweaked my vnt stop a bit. Seems to spool up better, and finally the vibrations are at a reasonable level inside the cabin!

Getting into NYC late saturday night I had a black plastic barb splicer connecting my FrostHeater melt after 4 years of use. I lost almost all my coolant and tried to keep my car from overheating on a highway that had no shoulder. I was able to limp it the few miles to my friends after putting a few gallons of water in. Fixed it the next day in a few minutes once I found a auto store that was open so I could drive back to Pittsburgh that day.

Now that I'm back I'm gonna have to drain out the mixture of coolant and poland spring.
