Large? No kidding,
I've got my laptop plugged into my 37" flatscreen and the neighbors called and asked if the guy on TV would dim his high beams. Seems as as though Mrs Smith was walking up the sidewalk, glanced in my window and got blinded by the lights coming from the TV and ran straight into a lamp post.

I got my car back from the dealer today. Took it in to get the suspension inspected. Got a call yesterday saying that my ECM was erased when their computer crashed during a recall update, meaning I lost my tune and steel glow plug fix. Good news is I got a brand new ECM that now works with steel glow plugs thanks to the recall service! Plus it will run just like brand new straight from the factory!

Today I installed a Kenwood KDC-X995. My stock double din had a broken antenna connection and a broken antenna wire since I've owned it. I've always just used the iPod adapter. This is a BIG step up for me lol. Now I have cd/radio/HD radio/internet radio (Pandora)/iPhone . Plus, BT hands free calling!

I used a PAC adapter because Crutchfield said it was necessary. I wasn't too happy about the $129 price tag on it (it was only half that with the purchase of a radio though) but figured Crutchfield knew a thing or two about what was needed with radios and I've heard funky things about keeping aftermarket decks working like OE (staying on until key is removed). I figured for that much $$, the PAC adapter would be plug n' play. Couldn't be more wrong lol. Ended up soldering about a dozen connections and had to cut the PAC adapter just to get the "turn on" lead out of one of it's spider-web of harnesses. I guess I'm just complaining that this wasn't as easy as it should have been considering the spendy adapter, but I'm pretty happy about the upgrade!

--edit-- I got a cubby now too lol!

You should also install a beer fridg and a $hitter so there will not be a reason to ever get out the the car... LOL...

Jk aside.. how do you like the set up? I have the same in the Jetta... radio has never worked since i got it... considering replacing it and the antenna wire at some point but do not want to remove the headliner again... real PITA

I put the same stereo in my Jetta! I also ordered the PAC adapter, but the previous owner had already hacked up the stock harness, so sent it back and just put it in like any other radio (except for running a new lead for lights). I love streaming internet radio in my car!

I ran the USB/AUX cables in through the back of the cubby, so I can keep my ipod there, or hook up something via AUX easily.

yea, sorry about the big size. Actually the dynabeams are not bi-xenon (no moving shutter) thats why I enabled the high beams. I do love that they turn around the curves (like the acura MDX). I missed the 100W halogen high beams I had on my '73 german Capri that could literally melt snow with the het from the beam. nothing like it when driving down dark animal prone roads.

I love this thing now that I'm learning how to use it. I swore you put a Pioneer in your Jetta

I'm still a little undecided if Pandora will be my source of choice, but it's nice to have options for sure! I didn't even do anything with the AUX as the only aux device that plays in my car is my iPhone lol.

You are correct.... I put this Pioneer in the Jetta because the OEM radio never worked. It too does not work.... I changed the antenna... still no AM of FM... The stereo shop spent a bunch of time trying to figure out what's up an why the radio does not work but I eventually gave up trying to make it work. I just play my iPod on it .... I most likely need to run a new antenna wire .... I understand that now there are some other aftermarket (hidden) antennas solutions that one can use? The Bluetooth on the Pioneer is a real POS so I don't use that either..

tothemax,
I'm in the same boat regarding horrible radio reception. I have a new Kenwood headunit, clean run of wires/rca cables, and a new antenna. Still can't pick up anything but the strongest 50K watt stations...

Thinking about trying the same style antenna that was in my Honda. That car truly sounded great.

Finally wandered out to the garage and installed the new Koni STR.t struts/shocks I got from Peter. This install included new VR6 wagon front springs with 10mm spacers, and new rear European wagon towing springs.

Looks good Chris! Your the 4th TDI I know with those tires and everyone likes them. Quiet and good traction. You'll like em more the next thunderstorm you get down there. Oh yeah, don't you love the little tags attached to the HLT's with wheel weights?
