Hi Fellow VW TDI Friends,
Could someone please tell me why or if this has anything to do with my Cruise Control not working?
(VW Parts List 1J0947561C - A Glove Box Light. Glove Box Light Switch. Park Brake Warning. Safety. StopLAMP. Included with: Lever, Lever assembly, Park Brake handle, Parking Brake, Shifter assembly), and what a switch in my glove box has to do with my parking brake (as in other places it is called "Parking Brake Warning Switch"?

I changed my Clutch and Brake switches, so the next switch to consider is the parking brake switch which is for some reason in the glove box?

There are just too many to list....
Why not watch the engine data with a suitable scan tool to see the state of the cruise switches and pedal switches? Shotgunning parts at things isn't really the best course of action.

And remember (at least on my 05 Jetta), there are TWO clutch switches. I had one of them go quite a few years ago, which in my case was the cause of my CC not working.

Hi oilhammer,
Thanks for the thought.
The mechanic was supposed to do that but it looks like the VCDS test was run for a total of 3:45, so he obviously didn't drive it or do much of anything other than a plug it in and run the auto test. I would buy a VCDS but I then have to find and buy an antique laptop with Win 7. Still, if I am going to keep the car, guess I will just have to bite the bullet.

Thanks Irvinj,
I see two places for a switch to screw into my Clutch, but there was only one there and as the CC stopped after I have been using it for a few years, I will assume that there is just the one on the Clutch Pedal. Where was the other Switch?
Thanks,

Three switches total. One for start safety interlock low on clutch. One high on clutch one on brake. Glovebox light is tied in for some reason but no effect with or without bulb. Those wacky krauts.why do you think you need old computer for vagcom. I have windows 10 on my crappy walmart hp

You don't need windows 7 Anything running any windows should work. I've run it on windows 98 up to Windows 10

Yeah, it really is a non-issue. Just about anything will run it perfectly fine. The only issue with something old/used is going to be the battery, if portability is what you want (and you do want it).

LOL, I run VCDS on an ancient HP netbook with XP.

@oilhammer is correct, mine needs a battery. It's not bad in the driveway, but on the road would worry me.

There have been devices where a seemingly unimportant indicator light played an important part of the circuit's operation. The HP sine wave generator was one of them( 200-series ). Won't work without the right bulb there... :)
