Just an offhand question, is this part of the club (Alberta to Manitoba) much like a party in Winnipeg? "Hey, theres a big party, but dont tell anyone." I see alot of activity in other sections, ontario uses their section for selling stuff within the province, kind of like a TDI enthusiest Kijiji, but here in the prairies we dont utilize it much. Just want to hear other peoples thought on it. Got something to sell, post it here (doesnt seem to violate any rules). I would love to see prairie pride here on Freds.

It seems to be tough to get ANYTHING going in our section. Myself and CGDoig have been trying to get the local guys in Calgary together...at least once a year. First 2 GTG's were decent...and nothing this year. As for sales threads and local news...I'd definately be a part of it.
The sad thing, I see out my way...there are sooo many TDI's around...and people just don't seem to want to get on a forum and learn about their cars.

We're definitely around...I just rarely check this section anymore since there's rarely any action. Turns out we have TDIsyncro in our neck of the woods - he's done some nice work and is working on an insane CBEA build.

It would be nice to have an Alberta or western Canada GTG in 2012. We have 6 to 8 tuned TDI up here in Grande Prairie, with more to come. Thousands of them TDI cars in this neck of the woods. Have a great day.

I've been busy rebuilding someone's TDI. Hope to have it back on the road this weekend.

Mine needs a new passenger side heated seat switch, anyone have a spare by chance?

The hard part is being that most people don't want to drive hours on end for a 3-4 hour gtg. Even some of the guys in Calgary didn't want to come to the smaller gtg if it wasn't close enough to their houses lol. If we could get some serious input and possible rent some time at bud park in Edmonton or something, possible advertising for diesel car's in general day, I think we'd potentially get something going. Possible to even lead up to a TDI fest in Alberta sometime maybe.

I would be happy to meet with TDIers in Grande Prairie if anyone would like to. Have been here 19 years and had TDI's for six years. As said, there are tons here and many do not know their cars. I may have turned a few to this site. We should go out for a beer one night during the week and yak! Can't go Fri. night but almost any other. Let's get together.

It's winter. And my TDI was hit... so I won't be coming out. Not yet. Not until I find my next TDI. Which reminds me I'm on the lookout for an ALH powered Jetta wagon in blue. Let me know if you see one for sale.

From the amount of TDI's one sees ripping around Edmonton, Calgary and through Golden one would think that the interest would be higher. I find with most conversations with TDI owners that they are not enthusiasts or even really that knowledgeable about their rig. They just drive it because it gives them good fuel economy. It would be nice to help these poor souls out as they have fallen victim to the dealership for simple repairs/tasks. I run 2 bone stock silver (yes they are both silver, laugh away) but still try and do as much as I can in my garage with the tools that I have.

As an aside, if you're ever 'stuck' in Golden, Selkirk Service (on the highway) is knowledgable and competent regarding MKIV TDI's. If there's anything I can't do for whatever reason I head there first before contemplating a trip to the city.

I've driven through Golden quite a few times. I really like it there. Last time I was set to go to Golden my IP failed though. At least it failed in the driveway and not in BC!

I've been on the site a little while, but I haven't come here unless I have to search for something gone wrong on my car..
I've got an 06 Jetta TDI.. fixed my EGR flapper valve after it stripped, and now 30,000 km later I have a leaking EGR cooler.
I've been told to block it off and get a Malone tune for EGR delete - I just want a cheap, reliable fix that keeps MPG up and maintenance down.
Any local PD guru's in Calgary?

I've had leaky erg's on both my cars (ALH). I do regular intake cleanings. Replacing the egr has solved the leaky problem on both cars (one has 200 000km on new egr and the other has 40 000km). If the replacement didn't work I was going to go the delete route. Don't idle too long and drive it hard and that should lessen the frequency of needed cleanings.

Sorry it's early and I realize you were talking about the egr cooler and not the valve itself. Is your cooler plugged? Where is it leaking from the cooler? While cleaning the intake I clean the cooler while I'm in there too.

Just joined, I am in Regina. I am new to the TDI's but am a diesel enthusiast. I am on my 3rd Ram, a '09 3500 Mega Cab. There is tons of information here about these cars. slidewayz, I just bought by 06 in Red Deer, the guy I purchased it from had it serviced at Daus Auto Haus. I will be picking it up in a week. Will try to remember to get his number from you. He had a lot of good to say about this guy. On a side note, I will be ordering a Vag-Com so anyone in the Regina area PM me and we can hook up when I get it.

Just so a few of you Stoon/Regina guys are aware we have a Sask VW club that is pretty active in the summers, we throw on a few car shows, and usually end up heading to Helberta for a few, I usually make the Farfromhome show every year. We only have a couple non stock TDI's kicking around the site though sure would be nice to see more.... Im up in Prince Albert car gets parked for the winters, have a Vag-Com and a bently manual

Most Calgary Mechanics are found on the East side of the city, mostly the SE.

Here are a few I know of that know VW's, in no particular order

Tunedub, Bert and Jacks, Midtown

Never been to any of them personally since I fix my own stuff, but they have good reviews.

For anyone interested in western Canada I have a bully dog 44100T I am looking to sell. Cheaper than an ecu tune and the power is noticeable. Put it on and found out my clutch needs to be replaced before I add more power. Willing to ship Canada wide. $135
