West Michigan Fall TDI GTG - Oct. 14th, 2023

Come enjoy the Fall Colors in West Michigan, while socializing and light wrenching on TDI's w/ good TDI folk!

Saturday, October 14th, 2023
9am to 7pm

11877 Ritchie Ave NE, Cedar Springs, MI 49319

We will have a good outdoor fire going all day long, some form of chili in the pot, and some jalapeno swiss dogs on the grill.

Bring your own beverages, and if you'd like to bring a dish or snack to share, feel free.

General Housekeeping Note:

When you arrive, PLEASE make an attempt to park in my property first, and not out on the road, we will save parking along the road as a last resort, if the site fills up.

I have opened up the backyard, so we have a parking "annex" now too.

The South drive into my property will be the entrance, while the North drive will be designated as the exit.
No exit ramps or highway closings on US131 this year!

Thank-you,

Key/Keyfob guy WILL NOT be in attendance -
Chris Tuttle (aka keyguy) will be at the GTG
He can :
- cut new key blades
- provide new keys to cut
- provide new keyfobs
- program keys and keyfobs to match your car for much less cost than dealership.

TUNE NOTE: - not sure we will have any tuning at this one folks, unless you know something I don't know, sorry

USED PARTS NOTE: I have a slew of MK4 stuff, that you are willing to paw through and make offers on. You are also welcome to bring some of your own parts to sell/swap/trade. - Just plan on taking your own parts home with you that may not sell, please.
(See page 3 and post #75 for complete listing of parts available) - updated 10/11/23

Sign me up for fob programming.

Is stuck piston rings to heavy to be considered light wrenching?

Had this in my calendar since last year just waiting for the details! Thanks for hosting again Kirk (and Linda).

Also, as a TDI conversion point of interest, my good friend Gordy Peterson will have his 1959 Ford pickup (complete w/ ALH engine conversion) at the Fall GTG - I'll add teaser photos a bit later!

Have to see what my work schedule is closer to event. Should be on days in October. It would be nice to make it to this GTG once, last GTG I went to was pre-Covid at the H05G in January 2020...

I will be there as well, with VCDS, VAG_DASH_COM, etc.

Sign me up for a full key/fob for a 2013 Passat push-button start, if he can do those.

Eric,

I'm pretty sure he can do those, as the last time I checked, the only ones he hadn't been into yet was the proximity keys (like on the 15 MY's) - but that may have changed by now?

Kirk, is something else going on in your area that weekend? I booked my hotel a few weeks ago because it looked like they were filling up and rates were higher than usual. Seems I've encountered this with other GTGs you've hosted.

I wanted to post about it in case people are dragging their feet on booking hotels. May not be the best strategy.

there are PLENTY of hotels in downtown GR to support a Luke Combs concert, I'd be surprised if rates for hotels around the periphery of the GR area would be that affected due to the concert.

There is a brand new Holiday Inn Express at the Cedar Springs (17 Mile Rd) exit 104 off of US-131 that is about 4 miles away from me

That's where I'm staying. I've grown fond of Holiday Inn Express hotels when I'm paying. They have nice bedding.
When you had the last GTG I think there were homecoming/parents weekends at some local schools. That may affect hotels, too.
