Okay, how does this sound?
Saturday morning 8am... hunt valley horsepower (cars & coffee).
I'm sure that may not work for too many, but I've been wanting to check it out for a while.

Any ideas for lunch on Saturday? I know of a few nearby hunt valley (depends on how big the group is).

The other idea I had was some place for a BBQ or party Monday. It's a bit short notice for something big, but I thought I'd toss it out there if anyone had a idea on that. Monday should also be nicer weather wise.
By all means, you should check out Cars and Coffee if you haven't done it. If you can get others interested in joining you, that would be great but, as Bob said, it's very short notice and a holiday weekend. I'm happily in Sturgeon Bay at TDIFest!

It might be better to wait for more advance notice & better weather. Bob
I'd be driving out of and back into a Tropical Storm that's about to park for a few days here at the Delaware coast, so I do have to pass for tomorrow, but I'm still up for something soon. We also have a few regional folks away at TDIFest.

I do like the effort that was made though and hopefully some folks more local can turn out. Kudos.

And on your previous post Bob, likewise, good to see you alive in cyberspace. Look forward to meeting again soon, brutha!

Yeah with the iffy forecast the short notice plans would be for locals only... and with several members away from the area for TDIFest you're right.

I may still go tomorrow to check it out if the rain holds off.

Yeeeeaaaaaaaaah... If I were in your shoes I'd do the same. Then again I did drive in a snow storm to get to my first local tdi meet. See video below:

Let's make some concrete plans for 2-3 weekends from now. If it's some place outside we should have a plan b or a plan in place for the following day or following weekend.

It was a great gathering of cars and owners. Took the backs roads down. Nice break. Enjoyed the show and the ride.

Indeed!

I got there around 9:30 and took off around 11.

Got to meet the car show organizer Will too! Really a great time to be had!

After I left I went out to concoction mountain orchard and picked up some blackberries and a couple pies (they make pies fresh daily there). Great place to get fresh fruit and vegetables if they are in season.

Perhaps this coming weekend?
Likely going to be the last time I'll be driving the TDI before the buyback.
This weekend won't work for me. I have to work on Saturday and Sunday.

The following weekend, I'll be going to Ohio for a TDI GTG/bonfire at GeekDrew's place (thread to be posted in the mid-west forum soon).

I could do something on Saturday morning if you all are interested in getting breakfast somewhere. I'd have to be around 10am, and somewhere in VA or not too far into MD.

I was hoping to keep the meet a bit closer to Baltimore.

But I'm open to other ideas. What place and time were you thinking about?

I didn't have any particular place in mind, but there are some good breakfast spots in and around the Springfield and Alexandria areas.

Eleni's Greek Taverna in Springfield does a mean breakfast. If we met there between 10 and 11AM, I'd have plenty of time to make it to work by 1PM. https://www.yelp.com/biz/elenis-greek-taverna-springfield

Just a thought.

So how about that local GTG? Anyone up for breakfast or lunch on Saturday, December 3rd? Location suggestions?

The Monsters will be there. Just pick a place. Will Jason be there? I need help 1044 control module incorrectly coded. I don't want to screw it up. I just replaced the radio with a Rns 315 nar. I put in a mic and new sat att wire.

Sounds like a good plan. There's a nice place in Catonsville called Atwaters that serves a great breakfast and coffee. There's also a good sized parking lot out behind the bike shop so we should have plenty of room for anyone who wants to come by.

Looks like a nice place. Is there anything half-way between DC and Baltimore that you recommend? If not, I'm fine making the trip up there ... just curious.

Yes. They just did a remodel that added several tables downstairs. I think that they still have a big community table upstairs. Their coffee is also fantastic. Great for big groups ;)

As for places between DC and Baltimore... Best spots would be in Columbia. I'll have to search around a bit to see what I can find

The two locations seem near each other, so I'm not sure distance has any bearing. I would vote for the first place Atwaters, at least it would be a new spot for me and the menu looks interesting.

Does either or both take reservations for a group? I know eggspectations can get very busy without one.

But both spots look good.

Are we looking at the same things?

If Eggspectations has a tendency to be packed, then Atwater's is probably the better option.

No we aren't. I thought it said Eggspecations in Ellicot City. Your map shows one of the closer locations in Silver Springs.

If that is the case, I would answer differently, but we don't mind the drive.

Eggspectations is nice for a high end family brunch. Think healthy California type plates. The large parking lot at Atwaters sounded more like 'us'. :p

Shoot! It did say Ellicot City.

I saw Ellsworth Drive and my uncaffeinated brain got confused. Since they're that close, let's stick with Atwater's.

I don't think Atwaters does reservations. But it's typically not too crowded.

Eggspectations in Ellicott city is about 20 minutes apart from Atwarers.

Though I've never been to Eggspectations myself so I don't know how crowded it gets.

Atwaters did recently expand to include a massive renovation downstairs that added several tables. I know that they have a nice big table upstairs as well.

Overall it's the best breakfast place I've personally been to locally

Let's do that, then. Would you like to start a new thread with the details? I'll make it a sticky. Suggested time: 11am?

Sounds perfect!
11am should work great as well. Just after the breakfast crowd and just before the lunch crowd.

As long as they are still serving breakfast at 11am... some places end breakfast at 10:30 for some reason.
