Warrenty transfer

What does it take to transfer the warrenty over to the next owner?
I am buying a 2006 Jetta TDI with 10,000 miles on it.

If it's the extended warranty, you have to put it in writing to the warranty company that He/she is transferring it to you. There is also a fee involved. It's on the contract. Congrats, it's not even broken in yet. question why are they selling.

If it's a factory warranty. nothing! if the car is still within warranty period

I don't think the wife liked it. Seems they traded up for a more expensive car. I know diesels are not for everyone.

that brings up another question, better to buy the extended warrenty now or wait? I know with every car I've bought, I always get extended warrenty info in the mail, towards the end of the standard warrenty period.
