Warranty About to Expire on 2006 Golf TDI

Hi all,

Are there any things known to be problematic on these cars that I should check before the warranty expires in the next 200 miles? The car seems to be performing well and other than some little stuff that's been corrected under warranty:

glow plugs
hood latch (twice)
leaking oil from intercooler
rear windshield washer

Some days I'd swear I could smell antifreeze but I've yet to find a leak.

Cheers,
Ronin

How is the AM radio reception? If its not 100% have them replace the antenna base.
Do you have access to Vagcom, if so scan the car and see if there are any faults, anything wrong at all have them fix it.

I had to replace the antenna base and coolant temp sensor just after the warranty expired on our 2004 Golf TDI. I am sure the radio was throwing a code before the warranty expired but because we didn't complain enough the dealer ignored it.

btw, we also had read windshield washer problems.

Hehehahahhohohoho! ROFL!! This has to be one of the funnier questions I've seen in a while.

If your warranty is about to expire and you are worried, then you need to:
1) buy a good set of tools
2) buy lots of specialty tools
3) make friends with the Bentley and a good mechanic (preferrably a local TDI nut)
4) get real up close and friendly with this DIY kit VW euphemistically calls a 'car'.
5) become comfortable with the fact that you are now your own warranty.

Seriously, with rolling up the miles comes more things wearing, breaking, and needing repair and replacement. It is really a part of life on this planet, since supplies of unobtanium do not exist (even though some manufacturers charge like they have the only supply).

Your other alternative is to trade it in on a new car, check your supply of vaseline, and BOHICA.

Your EGR cooler can leak into the exhaust where you would never see it. Yep; had mine replaced twice in a 04 Golf and its not cheap. Your biggest clue is are you loosing antifreeze, i.e. if you had some your loosing it.
