I was a strong proponent for people to use the Opti-Box to store additive in. The very obvious relabeled Plano Ammo box will leak if turned upside down.

I used one in my Passat and one in my truck. While carrying some kids in my truck, it got kicked over and a bottle of XPD leaked out over time. It leaks right past the seals of the box and in my case, all over my carpet.

The truck was not drivable and everything I tried was not able to get the smell out of the carpet and pad. My only resort was to finally change the carpeting.

If you have a box, take your additive out, put some water in it and flip it over. The water will run right out. :(

I did talk to Steve about this. He tested it, agreed that it leaked and had no seal. I should not have put faith in something I did not test as it cost me a lot of money!

Daaaaaang that sucks! :(

I have one; but I quit using it in the car as it just doesn't really fit well anywhere in the Golf trunk space. Kinda glad I didn't let it just tumble around back there now...

I ordered one. but never put it to use. I did have a gallon of XPD fall over with the pump attached. I was able to shampoo it out just fine thou. Took 4-5 times to get it. lots of simple green then a final scrub with some go jo hand cleaner. the stench was very strong until i got it cleaned up.

When I ordered my Optilube, I got the big bottle with pump, and two smaller bottles. I keep the smallest one in the trunk, upright, zipped up inside the triangular shaped bag where the jumper cables, gloves and mini-flashlight are contained and have is stuffed on the left side with other items like the adapter nozzle filler tube, a box of sanitizing wipes in case my hands get dirty from pumping diesel, etc. The small bottle only holds enough for about 2-3 fill ups. If I couldn't secure it, I wouldn't keep it in the trunk. I used to try and add it just before fueling up, but it's was too cumbersome, so now I wait until I get home, then add it.

It makes sense. I just believed the BS they wrote about the product and it failed.

I hate to say it, but if you read around about the issues Opti-Lube has, may of their other "facts" or "marketing" might just be BS to. You have to make people willing to pay top price for your product.

They still say #1 rated and link to the spicer test on their site. Its all crap.
