My check engine light was on and the diagnois was to replace the intake manifold & intake flap motor. Due to the $1700 pricetag for this service, I delayed doing it. I tried using Diesel Extreme and it temporarily cleared the check engine light. The light came back on, so I tried using more Diesel Extreme, but my check enging light didn't clear. Then my particulate filter light came on and I tried running at high revs, per the manual, but didn't clear it. Finally I opted to get the intake manifold/flap motor service. The engine light is still on and the particulate filter is staying on. Service recommendation was to replace the catalytic converter (with the particulate filter) for $2K. At this point, it's just not worth the cost for these type of repairs, so if you're getting the check engine light, don't pay for the repair. Live with the light and drive it until it dies.

There are just too many to list....
Or how about just FIX the car instead of dumping snake oil in the tank?

Intake failures are super common. There is an updated part. There is even an aftermarket piece you can buy that sometimes works.

Yea, I was trying to get out of an expensive fix based on some other recommendations. It didn't work and the fix didn't work either

I've never once had a new intake manifold fail to fix a car that had that P2015 or whatever it is, and I've replaced a lot of them. Maybe you did something wrong.

I've also replaced a lot of DPFs... again, never failed to fix it. And that is SO common, I made a thread about it so people wouldn't keep asking:

Hello.

I have found a leak on my inlet manifolds, it would seem that more than one has gone, so surprised she's idling as well as she is, but is popping on the over run and running lean. I'm going to endeavour carrying out the repairs over the next half term.

Would it be correct that the only parts I need are 12 gaskets, and around 1 hour of my time ?

Thank you for any advice

Am I of the opinion anything VW after 2015 is just garbage? On the Forum and other sites it seems the newer VWs are just crap. Bad service from the stealership to avoid warranty issues, costs and repairs. News is VW in Germany is laying off employees. VW sales are lagging . Whats going on ?
From info Im reviewing now all their stuff is junk . Am I right or wrong

Yes and no. It really just depends.

They've put an awful lot of eggs in one basket: the EA888 engines. And these are riddled with problems, problems that they just cannot seem to reliably put to rest, despite this engine being in production now since 2008. You'd think by now they've figured out a way to make them utterly bulletproof. Instead they've added things like plastic oil pans, and 0w20 oil specs.

The VR6, which I was never a super fan of, just went out of production. So now the giant Atlas is using the 2.0L EA888 as its only available power plant. If they have a 50/50 shot of pushing a Golf past 100k miles, how well do you think they'll fare pushing the Atlas?

The EA211 engine, which I was a fan of early on, has developed some quirks that were not present in earlier versions, so it seems they've decided to worsen that engine family, too.

I feel like the EA288 diesels have undergone a lot of improvements, but we'll never know.

And the post-Dieselgate butt-hurt EV reaction is REALLY screwing the company. Perhaps right out of business, but VAG's problems are going under the radar right now because the glare from the Stellantis dumpster fire burns much brighter, and people are also looking at Renault dropping failing Nissan on Honda's doorstep.... nothing like getting VD from a French prostitute. Literally.

Maybe VW is like a lot of items you buy now . They come with built in defects. No matter what you do to repair them it aint gonna work.
Many times I have bought new merchandise and experienced buyers remorse
