I am sure I am not the only one who wants a car like this... Nonsmoking, no accidents, clean. Paperwork and one owner is a big bonus.

Interesting if you find one. Another member here did recently. But low mileage ones are rare. One nice think about MKIV ALHs is that if well cared for mileage isn't that important.

I probably have one that's close to your ideal, though at 136,000 miles. IBW doesn't think I drive it enough. LOL. My TDI isn't currently for sale unless I was offered a pretty high number.

Hope you find what you're looking for.

You aren't the only person who wants one. They're just super rare. it's hard enough around here to find good body parts for one. Seems that folks believe a 2000, 200+K gas Jetta is worth $2000 with a bad 01M and damaged front clip.

Pretty hard to find low miles on an 15 to 17 year old car. Most diesels would be driven more to take advantage of the lower operating costs. With that said, there is always a gem hiding out in someone's carport!

Intersting, about 1 year ago, I looked up & realized I was following an spotless A4V TDI wagon, the route was darn near the same as what I was going. The more I looked, the more I realized it was a darn nice car. about a mile before my destination, the wagon turned right into a residential development. I thought, what the heck & followed it. About a mile later, it pulled into a driveway, & I pulled up behind the car. To my surprise & delight, a gorgeous, trim lady got out of the car. She looked alarmed as if I was stalking her. I complimented the car out my open window & asked if she would consider selling it. The expression mildly relaxed. I explained that I was a TDI person & was casually in the market for a car like hers. She explained that she had not considered selling it as it only had 86K miles. My appreciation grow. The situation was relaxed enough that I got out of the car, looked in her car windows: Spotless leather interior!. I gave her my business car and asked that she call me should she decide to sell it. I inquired if the T-belt had been done. She looked clueless. I cautioned her on the T=belt age & milage & the way some dealers charge for the work. As I drove away, the expression on her face suggested that she did not entirely believe me. As I type this, I realize I should stop by & leave another note on her car. She was a nice looking lady, but the car was even better. Like the old joke of a woman with a boat advertising for a male friend. & the male respondents asked for a photo of the boat.

I am two hours from this guy and have placed a call. He has been in business for years in Ironwood, will see what the story is.

Just picked up an 02 Jetta with 120k on it, 10k on the TB kit and a brand new Bosch alternator. Grey leather interior, heated seats, not a rip or tear anywhere on them either.

$500....

Deals can be had, you just have to act on them immediately.

I'm up the Valley in Chilliwack. Bought this car off my friends parents in North Van who were the original owners. They were in their 80s and no longer driving, health problems etc. I didn't really need the car but I couldn't pass up a TDI with 72k kms on it. Had aspirations to swap in 6 spd stick, big turbo etc and have some fun, but realistically it just isn't going to happen. Have a couple of teens starting to drive now, and I loathe to have em careening around town in this low km Jetta, so we are looking at a cheaper golf that needs some work to patch up for a teen car.

Hey, PB_NB, as an aside, what's a '99.5 New Beetle? I'm not aware of a half year change in that vehicle.

I think it was a split model year. I usually have trouble finding odd parts as there was some sort of switch. The strangest one was the short shifter. The one I have actually installed under the shifter rather than on the gearbox. Rear brakes are somewhat different as well. I found this it when we did the brake upgrade and the carriers didn't fit.

I will have to check the actual date on the chassis to confirm but it does seem to be some carry over from the MK3 days. Sort of a frankenbeetle!

That's the year that we have been using but it could be wrong.

Jetstream, let me know when you decide on keeping or selling. The manual swap could be fun down the road.

'98 and '99 (full year) New Beetles have a number of different parts than later NBs. Brake calipers, shift tower, N75, coolant temp sensor, engine speed sensor, intercooler pipes and MAP location, ECU...I could go on. But I don't believe it's a half year split.

I believe i have the lowest mileage alh wagon known on this forum. i have an 02 wagon that just hit 60k miles. full timing belt kit done at 54k, stage 1 malone tune, disabled egr, 5 speed, hitch, mufflerectomy, ventectomy, new brakes, struts, and tires. pretty damn mint besides a dent in the passenger side rocker panel. All maintenance records are on hand.

That's hilarious!
How does the seller claim 45/50 mpg? That would mean that they only used 1 gallon in 18 years. Looks like a new cluster in an old car. I could be wrong but it seems unlikely that this car would have so few miles.
Under raps since it was new? But $17K?
