I did manufactured my own springs back in the days. I can make those if there will be enough people interested about them.
The thing is to have good valve control when going up in rpm and high boost/emp levels. Never a bad thing to have.
there is no problem fitting hx35 but I'd rather put something different. I had pretty good life with garrett. GTX2967R with 0.64 iwg has decent spool.
Otherwise some gtb series big hybrid. Also I highly recommend to upgrade fuel supply system and I feel like it needs really heads to be ported if targeting that power level. I think user @Knightboat has some nozzles left?

I started making a few sets of exhaust manifolds when I was in um- I have had stainless steel exhaust flanges laser cut about 10 years ago...couldn’t be really bothered as there seemed to be little interest in these at the time...

That’s logical. AFB have big differences in construction! The nozzle needle top is 0,3 mm lower than AKE/BAU

Hello dear friend, would you mind of sharing the number of this injector holder ? The one from AKE/BAU .. I need a set of them, however they need to be 2 springs. Thanks

Hi! I got drowned with spam so I oversaw your message.
My nozzles are now for adjustment with H-Turbo but it seems holiday season so might take a while.

I still lust after a v6 tdi project, however it’s much easier to get 300 bhp nowadays of a pd130 engine than it was before and insurance/tax is killing it for me in Romania…if I ever find a decent b5 v6 tdi Quattro I will make a nice project out of it, I have a c5 auto in my backyard- rare 180 bhp AKE but front wheel drive, brand new set of bau cyl heads, a turbo kit with all adapters and pipes and a nice sacks sre clutch…on the lookout to get a old b2 Audi 100 Quattro and a couple of CrMo pipes would make such a ripper out of it ! I was close to buy an old wide body Porsche 911 with no engine and interior but in pretty good shape structurally, unfortunately seller messed me about with the paperwork and the deal fell trough…imagine that car stripped out with a modded v6 tdi in the back !
And the saga continues… before Xmas I bought a facelift tidy b5 quattto avant with many upgrades, the reason I went for it was: it had a tidy recaro fully electric interior, sunroof (not keen on it as they give troubles with age), it had alloy uprights as bigger bolt on brakes(had b5 s4 hp1 callipers on the front), kyb sr line suspension, upgraded bose sound system( hertz speakers him original door pods), rnse media system(sounds amazing on new speakers), s4 front bumper system (rare as hens teeth nowadays), webasto auxiliar heating(retrofitted), battery relocated in the boot for better weight distribution, original paint wearing thin in some places due to excessive polishing by previous owner, c5 instrument dash with Crome dial rings, Bluetooth modules for music/hands free calling and much more. The engine was original with 400 k on clock and it’s still workings fine (few dropped lifters and slight used cams on one side) but was powerful and fuel economy wasn’t bad at all !
However the engine had some oil leaks and as I had a spare AKE engine and some new BAU/BDG/BDH cam roller heads (brand new with solid, genuine camshafts) I decided to marry them in my spare time ! Trouble was I had 2 heads on same side so one needed the slot for the needle lift sensor machined to fit. There are slight differences: cam caps on the end are different and one hole is in the wrong place (which secures a back cam belt cover).
The alternator failed due to oil getting inside and shorting the rotor so decided to pull the engine away to do the swap !
I had it started yesterday and to report that’s driving very well with bosio race fitted to AFB injectors. The clutch gave me trouble, nothing I had in stock fitted the LUk dual mass flywheel so had to resort on modified 2.0 tfsi Sachs Performance clutch disc on v6 tdi Sachs performance hub. I reckon it was pointless as the old Sachs clutch disc I had was still useable as it was just 0.5mm thinner than the brand new tfsi clutch disc. Had to keep the stock pressure plate but o will upgrade it at some point.
So far I have a tuned ecu with a superchips remap and scramble boards (can’t read this as it’s somehow encrypted) but I will fit a AFB ecu socketed to fit new chips which ARazvan will burn for me next week !
I also have to fit A modified AKN pump with AKE 3 plunger head to keep the fuel demand.
So far the car drives well, touch Smokey off boost but the gtb2056vl turbo clears it nicely !
I will update the thread with pictures asap !

As far as it goes it seems quite 'easy' to go even 400hp on these with stock AKN 2-plunger pump. Sure engine needs some upgrades too but fuel wise. Did some fueling upgrades on winter time, bit bigger custom nozzles and fuel lines and filters and it picked up another extra hp what it used to have. Cut 0.5s off 100-160kmh time down to 4.3-4.4s range.

Seems like it is possible to reach 500hp range too. Just went on dyno yesterday and pulled out 469hp/745nm ... well okay max torque was 768 from the different pull. Car went limp mode on the dyno so wasnt able to max out the revs and fueling. That numbers were registered before it went limp. I think there should be around 15hp more on it. New fuel upgrades and turbo upgrades worked good. Even better than I expected...I was looking something like 440range. Also new setup had 650nm @ 2800rpm so bigger turbines spool faster now...well okey bigger nozzles help.
Anyway. 469/745 was with 4bar of boost and lambda was 1.5+ and egt 740c. So pretty decent

First 1/4mile hits and 11.9. Ran with bit less power maybe 440-450hp range...still pretty damn good result and lift bit early so the trap speed is bit off. Beat record by 0.5s...really happy with that!! Since this year target was set to11s now I have to go deeper into 11s.

Congratulations on youre lifting the bar stakes higher and higher ! I am running out of fuel on my b5 with bosio race 683 and gtb2260vk hybrid. Running probably 300+ bhp. Shure it feels nice but nothing like a 450+ bhp, they have a Lardy ass ! I have been in Bobby’s a4 with the souped up v6 tdi CR engine and that was a weapon with 450-500 bhp…I can imagine how yours can be ! Very, very nice results and a damn good looking Dino plot !
Well done mate !!!

Thanks man! After fueling upgrades on winter time I wasn't sure how much better it pulls since it was half a year since the last drive so I estimated maybe 430-440 range on upgrades but it lived up quite a bit. Wasnt expected that much of a gain but to be honest injectors that are now in are quite a bit bigger (~+60%) than for example bosio race. Now figuring out how to put power down on launches and learning to change fast and on optimum rpm...there is more on it than 11.90...I'm hoping to go 11.70s on this season. I currently run milder tune...about 440-445hp. With this tune it went 100-200 8.5s.

I found the aging 01E is rather crude for fast shifting, I build street cars not drag Queens ! 440+ bhp is serious power for a daily motor, I can only dream of so much ! My motor is fairly stock with just mild mods, it’s a 20 years old car with a brand new heart, everything else is tired on the car !
Kudos to you for keeping it real and posting updates, results are impressive ! Quality thread here…

Well my b5 is strictly for racing so no daily .. i have b7 for that. My b5 has low compression and quite big turbos for daily so not that ideal even it spools decent for the size. I have gone probably bit smaller turbos for daily. Personally I have never had issues with 01e and fast shifting...well to be honest probably I have human hand based motion slowness instead....well okey from the logs gear changes take about 0.3 - 0.4s so pretty decent. Getting those down to 0.2-0.3 should be possible.

Actually I might ask one question. I have reaching major issue on stock ABS unit. I need to know how to disable edl/eds system because it wont allow me to launch car properly. For now I have removed fuses from the ABS unit but i would still love to have ABS brakes. The problem is that every time i launch the car it has some wheelspin and EDL tries to control it by braking wheels but it actually brakes so much it kills the speed. Thats no bueno.

You might have to Fashion some arduino module to switch the ABS on hard launches and then to regain control in a smooth, seamless way ! It shouldn’t be so hard to get something working decent enough and to get it to talk over the canbus/Kline network !

Actually I played with abs unit wiring and went testing and figured out solution for that. Found one old conversation from the internet that helped me to right direction. So for now if anyone has same problem you just need to drive up to 14.5v to the brakelight input on abs unit as long as you want keep eds/edl disabled. I will make it work on maxxecu so it is disabled for example up to 70kmh or 4seconds after launch etc.
