They are scarcer than that! The Passat TDI wagon was available in North America for 1996 only. In 1997 the German assembly plant had been converted to the B5 Passat body for Europe while the Belgian assembly plant continued with B4 Passats (sedans only) for North America.

Glad you're not in a hurry!

Just keep your eye on the usual places, and be ready to jump when you find one thats good (and most of them are).

Happy hunting.

Don't know if you are willing to travel, but there is one for sale just north of Boston. Check it out: http://www.wantadvertiser.com/ Search for TDI and all categories. It's pearl red with 78k miles. Asking price $10500. Wish it had been in there one week earlier! I just bought a '96 Passat TDI sedan two weeks ago. I am very happy with it though.

Wow, 10 500$ for a Passat Wagon TDI with low mileage!!! Somebody jump on that deal. To bad I dont have that kind of money, cause I would buy that baby, and bring it in Canada.

Great post Diesel Fan. That wagon is clear across the country for me but it sounds like it might be worth the trip. Do you know if there is any way of contacting the owner without subscribing to their service.

Don't have the number but I think it's only $1.75 to subscribe for one issue. No need to subscribe to any more than that. The nice thing is that you can read all the ads before subscribing for that issue. You get to browse all of the ads first.
