So I'm waiting for delivery of my 15 TDI S Golf wagon. Talked to my dealer Monday, and they tell me that are waiting for an OK to sell, and there is supposedly an approval process now conducted by VW. I'm told this is something that started late last week. I was initially waiting for a fuel filter and then this happened. Not sure I understand.....

Does anyone have intel on this??

We put a deposit on a 2015 GSW about 2 weeks ago. The dealer has been going through VW to get the brakes & tires replaced. The last holdup was the (out of stock) tires, but they should be done tomorrow. If all goes well we will take delivery tomorrow afternoon. They tell me with all the 2015's sold needing full service (fluids/filters), tires, brakes, batteries, etc the service department is backed up along with some parts supply. I can believe this and if they change the pads/rotors/tires etc. then the wait is worth it. I'm sure they want to get these things off the lot but the dealer seems to really want to make sure it's right. From what I can tell, there is a bit of confusion between the dealers and VW as to what gets replaced and what doesn't. I think it kind of depends on how much hassle the service department wants to go through. I would rather wait and get a fully serviced car.

Just to close the loop on this, when we got to the dealer (3 hours each way) they started playing games and wanted more than we had agreed (in writing, for what it was worth) so we left. They now are blaming it on a computer error and wanting to sell for slightly less than the original deal, but I'm not too interested. We may check around some other dealers, but the ALH wagon still looks pretty good.

However, I did have a chance to look over the car before all this happened. They replaced the front tires only, with the same Contis as the original rears. No explanation as to why other than "that is what VW authorized." The pads and rotors were new as well. Fuel filter was also new. Car was cleaned up, but not very well.

Total time from deposit to engineering OK and delivery for me was 7 calendar days. Car had been for sale for about 7 calendar days before that.

They tell me with all the 2015's sold needing full service (fluids/filters), tires, brakes, batteries, etc the service department is backed up along with some parts supply.
Jim Reynolds @ Tom Bush told me the same thing when I called him. I think at 1000 miles I'm going to change all the fluids and filters on my car anyway, since I have never trusted O'Steen. Also, O'Steen hit me with a $585 dealer fee.

I have heard the same thing from a few dealers. My two local dealers in Albuquerque fixed the ones they had and put them on the lot, they are ready to drive away when someone wants to make the deal.
Dealer in CO has been in and out of contact with me for two exact weeks, on a SEL 6M GSW. The sales manager has personally contacted me to let me know that this car needs a lot of work for VW to approve the sale and they may choose instead to scrap it. He also said part of the problem is that mice were living in it, he did not say the extent but that worries me.

I then found a dealer in TX who seemed confused when I called to ask about the 2015 TDIs, but a product specialist called me back to explain that they have only a few and have not had the approval to sell them yet.

He called me the next day to tell me that they will put the car in the shop to start the analysis and repairs of whatever VW authorizes. I am still waiting for confirmation but it could be a matter of days, not weeks, he said. He said they have been driving them monthly as VW mandated so that gives me comfort. He said he would personally put his eyes and hands on it to make sure it is in new condition and smells new and clean inside.

Good luck to all who are looking to purchase one of these cars, the 6M are harder and harder to find but the CO Springs dealer said he had someone back out just yesterday and a 6M SE became available.

bobbiemartin: I am looking at driving 3-4 hrs for one of these cars, thanks for your comments, as I will ask more questions of the dealers. Also, you said the car was cleaned up but not well...what was not good about that?

We just made a deal at another dealer for a Silk Blue with black interior GSW. Basically the same car and the same price - S with DSG. After the fiasco at the other dealership, I had them send in writing the final price and that we were approved for the 72 months at 0%. They are going to start servicing the car next week. Hopefully this one will go smoothly.

It still had a bit of dirt here and there. Nothing too bad, but not really cleaned up very well either. The new dealer claims they cleaned the TDIs periodically while they were stored. He did send this picture and it doesn't look like 2 years of dirt on it, so maybe they did.

I was told that VW would be quick to address issues associated with sitting for 2 years. If you feel the time stagnant is the cause of the issue pursue it and even contact VW with that fact.

Just my .02.
