My buyback # from VW is also within a few cents of what I figured from the formula posted on this site.

I have a 2015 Golf, I bought in March of 2015, and paid 30k after extended warranty, taxes, etc. I can't believe its only worth 16k 6 months later (September prices) I owe 26,287 currently.
Anyway, I guess I'm still confused with the Loan forgiveness. The preliminary approval that came out on Tuesday reads
"Loan Forgiveness up to 30% of Vehicle Value + Restitution if secured
debt on June 28th, 2016 was greater than Vehicle Value + Restitution"
The form shows me owing $3,895.00, but 30% of 22,391.93 (vehicle value + restitution) is 6717.58, so shouldn't the difference be covered, and I owe $0?

cancel the extended warranty, you'll get some back but you can't fix stupid, 30K for a golf, wow

When I put in my information it shows that I'll owe money. I thought they were offering loan forgiveness up to 30% of Vehicle Value + Restitution?

Did you enter your purchase date correctly?

If i buy a used TDi from a dealer today, am i eligible to participate?

I just called claims support and they said i would be eligible, but i would only get 10% above market for the buy back amount vs the normal 20%. Is there a formula available to calculate it with the 10% value?

Their saying you get the full buyback minus half the restitution. Normal restitution was 20% but since you have to split that since buying after june 28th it gets cut in half to 10%.

Use https://agrahamg.github.io/VWBuybackCalculator/

Then take the modification number and divide it by 2 then subtract that from the buyback amount.

Buyback is almost exactly what I thought it was going to be. Looks like I'll take the fix.

Site error

Anyone having issues registering on the site? I tried using my iPhone and my windows work computer and kept getting invalid odometer reading errors. But I'm typing exactly what's on my dash, not that the site would know, but it keeps saying it's an invalid odometer reading. Called the help line and they don't know anything, said they would give it to a technical support guy.

All I typed was 34000 and it took it. Don't know why it's giving you a hard time.

Clearly the website is not applying the mileage adjustment from Attachment 2 a/b/c.

In my case for 2013 Jetta with current mileage of 33,571 and getting the earliest buyback date 11/1/2016, projected mileage from the site indicates

Projected Mileage at Return 35001 - 40000
My projected mileage upon return around 37K
Subtract the mileage adjustment (number of months since 9/2015) 37000 -(14 months x 1024) = about 23K adjusted = +$1530.

So take whatever number you are getting from the claim site, and realize that is the base number, and you will most likely get a second check for the difference (if owed money) or an adjust check to reflect an overage a few days later.

Just did my car.

2013 Passat SEL current mileage is 42,283 - and parked until buyback. I am driving my old beater pick up around. So i think i will be in the next mileage category down.

Return: $20,500
Add Restitution $7,086.73
Amount to Lender -$10,500
Amount to You $17,086.73
Mileage Range 45,001-50,000

with almost 30k miles a year for 4 years, you've gotten pretty good use out of that car. I imagine (not knowing what you paid), you got a pretty good cost per mile with that passat.

not complaining at all. I love my car was considering keeping it but this buyback is too good of a deal to pass up. KBB says my trade in value is $7000. If I could buy it back after the fix for that would do so in a heartbeat.

If I take the buyback, I will get a projected $14,500 paid to me. I can buy a great car for that(maybe put some with it), and not have a car payment. It is tempting.

That is what I am doing. I will take the net payment and buy a car/truck in that range and save the monthly cash flow of not having a car payment.

Has anyone thought about what it's going to be like at the dealerships on Nov 1? I wonder how long the turn in process will take. I envision a mob of TDI owners with cars lined up waiting hours to turn in cars. Perhaps you'll have to make an appointment. Hope it's not too painful.

It will be by appointment or chaos will ensue. The actual process should be pretty quick as the paperwork will be done because you have to send in copies of title and registration ahead of time. The lawyer they hired to coordinate all this has done this all before.

This is what I get on the byebyetdi.us calculator:
2013 Jetta SportWagon 4D TDI I4 as sold in NADA region PacificNW
buyback amount: $24,317
Option: Navigation: $720
Option: Power Sunroof: $660
Miles adjustment: $630
TOTAL $26,327.00
(no mention of restitution but everything I read leads me to believe you get it as well)

This is what I get on the VW Claims Site:
vehicle return amount: $19450.00
Restitution: $6876.73
TOTAL $26326.76

So I'm off by some change -- but I'm confused  because I thought everyone receives restitution on top of buyback. And when I look at the settlement charts I'm seeing base buyback of higher than $19,450 for 2013 JSW. HELP.

Am I misunderstanding?

The original court documents have the buyback and restitution rolled into one. The fact that you get basically the same from both sites shows this to be true.

One interesting thing. We have 2 JSW and both of them come to xxxx.73 . They appear to be rounding the 20% if it did not come out a whole amount or the NADA guide values after adjustments all end in a 0, making the 20% a whole number.)
