Sunshade and Cargo Mat

Ive had mine for a while, but could decide how to spend it at the dealer. With a little research, I bought a OEM sun shade kit that wraps all the windows behind the driver. I like it better than window tint and I don't have to worry about how dark it is...its really dark. It doesn't attached to the glass but clips. No drilling or glueing. Then I also found a OEM (WeatherTech) cargo mat.

New to these boards, but I think this is the best way to look for any help here. I'm one of the ones who got absolutely no notification about the goodwill package during its short 5 month span. While away at school I received no letters or information about this package being offered. Once I arrived home, I was asked by family members if i received the money. When I tried contacting vw over the phone about being able to receive the money I was repeatedly told that there was nothing I could do anymore. I really can't see how I'm in the wrong here, and I was hoping that there were others who could enlighten me with information on what I can do to to avoid being shammed. Thanks for any help

Edit: Just to add they told me that they posted a website and that "several news outlets" released this information. The only news article I saw during my time away was posted by NPR and it was something that wasn't finalized and spoke on VW buybacks/ 5k compensation..
Take them to small claims court. A few news outlets is not proper notification. In AZ, I think that small claims is 5000 dollars or less.I would think that they would pay rather than fight it, but VW has done some dumb things in the past...Mark

I read somewhere that some people have had success in turning the $500 VW Dealer Card into cash somehow. I cant seem to find it. Any advice appreciated!

I am doing some home renos and could use the full $1,000.00.
Maybe you can catch somebody paying for service or parts and gett them to let you pay for part of it, in exchange for cash. Maybe with a 20 or 30 dollar incentive, they may take you up on it...Mark

You know those postcards in the back of the owner's manual? They are used to notify VW of your current address. And I think there was significant publicity about this.

I agree, but it still isn't legal notice, IMO. It wouldn't cost much to find out, heck, you might even win a default judgement when VW doesn't show up. Also, I have lived in the same house for 30 years and I was never notified by VW, I found out about it here..Mark

What makes you think they had a legal obligation to ensure every owner knew about the Goodwill cards?? They would argue they made a best effort to tell as many people as they could. The few that slipped through the cracks are just collateral damage to VW.

It doesn't really matter what I think, does it? I think that a judge might think that they had a legal obligation to notify owners. Vw has made very few good moves since this broke, IMO. I would think that, if they want to retain loyalty to the brand, that a measly 1000 bucks would be cheap. I am still amazed by the VW defenders here, they are completely at fault, it was completely their doing and if they want to retain customers, they need to go a step farther, IMO...Mark

I signed up for goodwill package on 4/21. I chatted with VW, they tell me it was mailed on 4/28. It's June and I'm still waiting. I called VW again on 6/2, now they tell me they will resend it to me and I need to wait another 4 weeks.
Similar here. Signed up 4/24. No cards within 4 week promised delivery. Called last week. VW claimed it was mailed May 11 but there was some sort of trouble with that days dispatch. I am to wait until June 14 before calling again. Fingers crossed. I need tires soon. I like the idea of small claims court. I'll look into it if things don't turn out right.

The neat thing about small claims court, at least in AZ, is that you are not allowed to bring a lawyer. I am not really sure who VW would send, maybe they would just pay up...Mark

I was surprised to see there was a 4/30 time limit to sign up for the cards. Its not like the value of the offending TDI's vaulted back up to pre fraud levels on 5/1. You still can't get non-VW dealers to take them and VW dealers themselves offer less than pre-scandal values. VW lies about emissions for years but give affected consumers 5 months before pulling the plug. Since you can't get paid twice for the same vehicle the time limit seems ridiculous.

No record of goodwill signup!

On feb2 I got online and filled out the goodwill signup screen for our
$1000. I waited twelve weeks for the credit cards. Called today, and was
told there was no record of my signing up. The program ended a month ago
for our 14 sportwagen. They are accepting the 3.0 diesels now.
I remember being asked our vin number. And the was told that "yes" it qualified.
I then gave them the mileage, our address, etc. and according to Gloria,
this morning, it was not done. Dam VW!! As far as I'm concerned it's designed
software to get info about us and our car, and not pay what they say they will pay. I really believe there are quite a few in the same situation. I'm done
with VW. And am sick of their corporate greed.

You should have checked your status "before" the end of the program.
It makes no sense to me why there is a 4/30 end date to the program. TDI trade in values did not jump to pre scandal amounts magically on 5/1 did they? They cheat for years but you only get 5 months. bogyaas.

If you don't want to be left with nothing then follow the rules. See where not following got VW? See where it got the OP? If it is important you check status before expiration. Kind of why I hate email rebate programs.

At least it isn't just me, but hopefully that's not a sign that they're stalling for some reason.

The VW Chat rep emailed me this week to see if I had received it, and when I replied that I hadn't, she told me to wait another week. That's the third time they've said that, so I have asked to speak to her supervisor, or to be sent the tracking information on a resent package.

Not a happy camper right now.

Well, I finally got good and irritated, and the Goodwill Package arrived in the mail today. Looked like junk mail, to be honest. Now I just have to make a trip to a dealership.

We've used up our universal card at Costco not long after we got it. We have 2 VWs to service and the dealer card is about half used up now. I'm not sure if either of our cars will need servicing before it expires, so I may use it to buy a new set of winter steelies, my old ones are really rusty from being used on 2 previous cars. My wife's car won't likely need service again until next year, mine will be iffy, I've still got another 10k km to go which would be end of year at my current driving rate.

Go get yourself a money order with the universal, I deposited my $500 straight in the bank.

We'll probably end up using that one at Walmart for groceries. Thanks for the s'mores, VW! :p Though cash sounds good too.

Just bought a 2006 New Beetle TDI that needs some rehab, so i may wait to see if my car guru recommends any parts or fun accessories I can buy at the dealer before we decide what to do with the dealer card.

My local dealership has a detail shop, so I used my $500 to detail my wifes 4runner and my diesel truck. I wasn't about to detail my TDI till I know whats up with it.

So I registered back in Feb but never followed up. This forum made me realize that maybe I should look into the fact that I never got my card.

I just called up VW care yesterday, gave them my confirmation number (which was still in my in-box) and they had no problem re-issuing me another package.

The question now will be .. which comes first... the goodwill $1000 or me trading in the TDI :)

I bought a set of tires for one of my other cars. The dealer can order you almost anything. With the free mount and balance when you buy four tires at once, I ended up paying the same as I would have from an online reseller once the shipping and separate charges for labor would have been added.

My TDI has good tires.

End of March 2016 I registered, got a confirmation number, but no email. I checked online 2 weeks later, entered my confirmation number - invalid.

Registered a 2nd time, got an email with confirmation number (April 28th), < 2 weeks later, my cards show up. I activated them at the dealer June 7th. Already used the Visa card.

Then last week, another set of cards show up.
