I appreciate it everyone! I was at Walmart trying to get my money order and didn't bring that paper with me. I know I wish they would've just given us one card with $1000.

yep...

cheap @$$ vw did pony up $500 -- good for $500 at my bank

... the other $500 was an attempt to SUB the dealers:mad:

... I was able to sell my vw only card for very nice $$$$ -- as I could never use it this year.

Still I had to take less than $500 -- but very :D

Possibly. However, all three potential options were very palatable and if they were in fact just fishing they are using pretty good bait. LOL
VW has not published any settlement options or fixes to date; they are fishing and they are doing it with wild guesses currently.

The hungry fish in me kind of want to nibble.... the reasonable "I'm not giving my VW up" part of me says it would just be more crap and misleading information in the thread...

PM me the bait if you would, then I can nibble all by my lonesome.

I have to say though, while no one knows what the fix will bring and what the comp packages will be, I'm pretty much committed to keeping my car as is UNLESS I can get a new GSW for half price. :D

Think what you want, but it was a valid survey from a reliable survey company who were polling select TDI owners. There were no wild guesses. Sorry I tried to keep people informed.

No problem with you keeping people informed; but VW hasn't said anything about what they are doing yet, so unless they are actually polling on behalf of VW they are just guessing. ;)

Post the survey please; let's see what it said (I haven't seen it)

I tried answering the survey but it froze up when trying to make sure my speakers worked.

Ok folks, time to place your bets. Only a few days remain until a possible answer to the largest case of deception, cheating and fraud in automotive manufacturing history.

VW doesn't have a leg to stand on- they've admitted to lying and admitted to knowing about the excess emissions prior to the EPA finding out. Federal Trade Commission has sued, along with the EPA. Both of whom ultimately represent us, the owners.

Personally I would accept a buyback settlement of: what I paid for the car + 50%, capping the price at the original purchase price. What would you like your portion of the settlement to look like? Newer cars: fix them + cash, buyback, or ..??

That's a really tough question. I've got a 2015 GSW TDI SEL and live the car. It's the first new car I've owned in 20 years and would hate giving it up. But I feel totally deceived and lied to. So part of me would be happy with walking away with having driven a great car for a year, for free. I doubt that will happen. I think it's more likely they will fix it. Given that, for mine, it's a software patch. And I would assume there would be some monetary compensation. That's really the only part that scares me. Being stuck with a car that isn't worth what I've got in it. Buying new is costly enough. But to then to lose even more value, about the instant drive off depreciation, is disheartening.

Only time will tell...

The answer is due in Federal Court tomorrow (4-21-2016) BUT I do not believe there is yet agreement between the government and VW although they are really close. With that said, I look for a choice between two options by each VW TDI owner in the years covered.

Option #1 - Straight auto buy back. 130% of what the vehicle was valued in KBB the month prior to the announcement.

Option #2 - Trade in. Turn in the TDI for a new 2016 gasoline version of your vehicle of the same VW model and trim level.

Since my TDI was NEW just 2 weeks prior to the announcement, I will opt for Option #1 and go out and buy a BMW or Mercedes diesel.;)

Cool it guys - Please take all general dieselgate discussions to the big thread. If this thread becomes just another dieselgate thread - it will get locked. Please keep the discussion in this thread about VW's goodwill package. Failure to do this will get this thread closed and that will end all discussion about the thread topic. This would not be a good thing.

Have Fun!

I think most see it all part of the same topic, BUT go ahead and close the thread then. There is nothing left to be said about the Goodwill Package. That is old and settled information.

Don, recent posts have absolutely been on topic - and the info in coming days is about to get substantive. If you find it offensive or bothersome in any way, please don't read the thread.

Great info dmcdon thanks for posting. From my understanding, after all agencies and VW arrive at an agreement and a Judge approves, individual lawsuits are then less likely to be heard, as a Judge would cite the original (t.b.d.) settlement offer?

from a survey
Option 1 - geared towards owners of 2015 cars? (All herein theoretical) Not bad, you have a chance to step away from the brand, be compensated and at a reasonable rate - I can see the appeal here.

Option 2 - for owners of older cars? Akin to Elon Musk's "surrre I'll collect your $400M and build you a car, details to follow." If I were interested, I'd want to take a hard look at any made-for-dieselgate replacement gas jobber before agreeing to anything.

BUT what is true: At some point it's MUCH cheaper for the company to offer a replacement car than actual cash (whatever VW's build cost). And offer a replacement is possibly how they're trying to avoid further litigation. Fun to think about anyway... carry on

How have the recent posts been related to the $500 VISA card and the $500 dealership card? VW's Goodwill package is about these "goodwill" offers and only about these goodwill offers. All of the recent posts I was referring to are about the Dieselgate possible fixes, suits, and settlements. These discussions belong in Threadzilla. Every other thread here that has drifted into a generic dieselgate thread have already been closed. This thread will be no different.

There is nothing left to be said about the Goodwill Package. That is old and settled information.
This is pretty much completely true. There may be some TDI owners who have not yet cashed in on the goodwill offer but i am pretty sure that all of the members here have either claimed their cards or they have decided not to do this (for some reason). This thread may well get closed at some point, but I am not the moderator in this forum, so I cannot close this thread. However, I know that the correct moderators are monitoring this thread. Time will tell.

Have Fun!

Well, at least two of us did not dig down that far into the forum to find it.

Is anyone else having an issue getting to the last page? I cannot get it to go past page 2021...even if I manually change the URL to 2022, it still goes to 2021.
EDIT - I did not realize I had not changed the "posts per page" from the forum default...bumping it up to 100 posts per page resolved the issue.
