I spent my VW card on roof crossbars and bike carriers from Quirk VW in Massachusetts. Free shipping, no sales tax, and they honored eBay pricing. Really good prices on VW assessories. I figured when I get rid of the car, I can sell the parts and still make money.

Just received my cards yesterday. I'm not due for service anytime soon, and am planning to sell my Passat after the "fix" when the market picks up.

It seems the dealer card is not transferrable. Any suggestions on a $500 dealer addon to improve resale value? Wheels?

Just an FYI: I moved over 450 gift card posts from the scandal thread to the gift card thread. That's why the page/post count numbers took such a huge jump.

Thank you.

:)
A lot of that is probably because the Goodwill thread is in such an obscure location. If you made it a sticky in a more visited subforum (TDI 101 vs. Passt B7), you might have fewer posts to weed through.

Got my cards in the mail yesterday and activated them last night. Briefly discussed trading in for a GTI, until I realized that the salesperson couldn't have known less about the products he was selling. *Points to a base Golf S 1.8* "That's a Golf R, they're pretty sweet, $40k." Thanked him for the tip and got the heck out of there.

Guys... this has been discusses ad-neuseam, in fact there's a 84 page thread right on this site that beats this horse dead, resurrects it just to beat it dead again.
Can we just leave it to that thread and leave the arguing, discussion and what not out of here, please?
That thread became pretty useless to anyone who doesn't have 8 hours to read the thread after the first day and a half... That said, you're absolutely correct. It's nice to see some of the ideas for what to get here!

Thread moved to the 'General VW Discussion' forum as this applies to several years and platforms.

You can apparently use the "dealer" only card with your paypal account, its a visa and will add just like any other visa.
Nice, so that means you can technically add it to PayPal, then withdraw the funds into your bank account?

NOPE! Great idea though... It does indeed link into PayPal like a Visa, but I just tried using it to buy some things on a site that accepts PayPal. Got a huge payment error. Thanks for the idea, it was worth a shot. It truly is a 'dealer only' card. Heading north to order my new key fob :).

FYI...check around your area to see if any dealerships have service specials running (I found a couple in my area). Some have a $100 incentive, so that you can make your $500 VW card a $600 VW card.

My dealer, Douglas VW, offered me 20% off all service and parts, plus free oil changes and tire rotations through to the end of 2016.

Has anybody experience attitude from the dealers when trying to activate the goodwill package? Got my package yesterday, so I swung by the local VW dealership (not my usual dealer).

Walk in, tell the receptionist I am here to activate my goodwill package. She collects my information (DL, Registration, etc.). Then says comeback in 4 hours. Now the dealership is empty, I mean empty the sales people are in an office eating lunch. The managers are in another joking around (I can hear them telling jokes).

I tell the receptionist, I would like to get my goodwill package activated now. The receptionist tells me that is not how they do it. They collect the information then you can come back to get it activated. I'm at this point dialing the vw goodwill 844 number.

Up walks the internet manager, and tells me a lame bs story about VW hub being down and they can not activate cards. I then hand her my cellphone, which as a nice lady from the activation group, who gathers the information and activates my cards (over the phone).

As I am walking out, the internet manager says, 'Now you apologize to me for being disruptive'. I turn to her, shook my head and walked out. Next call is the VW of America...

Oh, and according to the nice lady on the phone... if they feed you bs about the VW hub being down, have them call the 844 number.. The dealers are not suppose to activate the cards without you being present. Apparently there already have been card fraud from some of the VW dealers telling people they can not activate the goodwill package and then stealing the visa numbers to charge against.

Checked the mail this morning and there were my two envelopes from VW. I now have nothing left to complain about.

What happens if I take the goodwill from VW, then they offer a depreciation refund as well? Do you think if I take the $1000, they will say you are SOL, because you already took the monies? I am a little confused on that, reports seem to state they are going to be giving more back because of loss of value?

I need to get my timing belt done, but the two VW dealers around me aren't running any specials, did you call to ask if they were running any?

Nice to know! I may get a bunch of accessories from them when I am up in NJ for vacation... I'm kinda surprised to see this since their body shop won't seem to take the dealer card as a deductible for a collision repair (even though according to VW customer care it should be no problem).

Yea i figured that out late last night after I had posted. It was too good to be true. I'll just use it on parts I might need next year or accessories to resale.

Well I have called VW Customer Care, used the chat twice and have confirmed my mailing address on the GW package, found out mine was mailed on 12/9, have received my mail already today and still nothing.

I'm not made about not having my free money yet, I'm mad that VW is using the slow boat from China with no tracking information with the USPS. Hell I have no issues getting my VW Credit statement from them because it's money I owe them.
Would you prefer to have problems getting your VW Credit statement?

I showed up at the dealer (Momentum VW of Jersey Village in Houston, TX) this morning at about 10, and they gave me the same story - the system is down, come back later, or, we will take copies of the cards and your registration and activate them when the system is back on, and let you know the cards have been activated.

I just got back from O'Steen in Jax, FL and am fortunate to have had a good experience. The gentlemen doing the processing warned me at first that the site has been crashing during peak hours and he might have to do it later and call me when successful. But he was determined to let me leave with activated cards and finally got it to go through on the 3rd try. I thanked him for his patience and help.

I called the 844 number, and after about 20-minute wait, the customer advocate told me it is OK for the dealer to activate the cards even if I'm not there, provided I did show up in person to prove I am the owner of the car. She confirmed the site is down as of 13:20 CST, and is supposedly intermittently coming back to life and then goes dead again.

Well i guess when they said one of the reasons for diselgate was a lack of coordination with IT they weren't kidding. They know exactly how many cards they mailed out. It woukd be easy to estimate website traffic for an authorization portal from that. Just another VW fail.

Believe it or not, the hub is BUSY. The dealer was not trying to screw you or delay you. They BENEFIT from these two cards.

That's a bit strange...I arrived at our local dealer just after 9:45 CST, the receptionist was polite, grabbed a notepad, walked out to the car, verified the VIN, and wrote down the mileage. We then walked back in, she handed my package, registration, license, and notepad to the sales manager. He took about 6-8 min to activate everything, then explained the roadside assistance features. We all said goodbye, and my daughter and I left a few minutes after 10:00. No one said anything about the activation system being a problem.

That's your point of view. Mine is that VW knew all along that there would be a spike in card activation activity once they start sending the cards, and it was their job to plan for it accordingly. Obviously, they didn't, just as they didn't deliver the cards within the 4-week timeframe they promised. Is the VW public relations team so incompetent that they cannot deliver the cards on time, and then have a system in place that will be able to handle the activation workload that is quite predictable? I guess the answer is yes to both questions. And I was under the impression that they were trying to build goodwill with VW owners.

I filled out the application online - twice - and haven't received any sort of confirmation email as the site showed when I completed the forms. Have any of you guys who've signed up received confirmation emails or other info after the fact?
