It seems to me that free money triggers your rage then your family may be in physical danger from your irrationality.
It's not free money until it is in the possession of the individual, otherwise it's just an offer of free money.

Received my cards in the mail today. Wait? How was that possible? I didn't whine, complain, cry, spread FUD, wring my hands, shake my fist in the air, call VW, posit conspiracy theories, or post about it. It just happened!!!

Wait.....
so you are saying tearing a bloody strip off off a random powerless phone peon is not effective in accelerating the speed of the US postal service?
That just doesnt make sense to me. Im pretty sure calling the VW care person a @$!#ing @$!#ity @$!# got my package here at least 32 minutes faster

Good thing, as i need that goodwill money to buy enough gasoline and frozen orange juice to produce napalm so i can torch VW for lying to me

Hey, the same happened to me today! Maybe the VW Gods are doing good deeds for us that don't whine and complain?

So I finally got my cards (after 5 weeks) today and went to the dealer to activate them only to be told the "new system they have to activate them isn't available on Saturdays"!

I'm curious if the system is down on vws end or if it was just my all-too-often incompetent dealer.... anyone else managed to activate today?

Whatever, it isn't the end of the world and it's still free money... Plus at least my dealer isn't too far, but VW really needs to get their act together! imho

Yes you have to bring the car. Registered owner has to appear with the car
Haha yes, they made me go get it. I had to go get a new windshield in my wife's care this morning and the VW dealership was next door so i stopped in to see if they'd activate it without the car but wouldn't

Looks like the cards are showing up, for those who have activated them, I'm curious whether the dealers have tried to talk you into buying a new VW?

My cards arrived today. Registered on 11/10. Dealer activated the cards with no problem. Gave the debit card to my wife and said Merry Christmas!
Dealer said I was the 14th activation today.

For $500? Have prices fallen that far in your neck of the woods?

I had a conversation today with a person that was in the dark about dieselgate.

Surprising because just about everybody has heard the bad VW news because of the internet, the media or even thru word of mouth.

This person that was in the dark assured me the sky is not falling.

I registered on November 16th, called VW Customer CARE and found out once and for all that my cards were mailed out on December 10th so they're in some lazy postal worker's truck somewhere in between Victoria's Secret and Frederick's catalogs.

So anyway, when I explained the facts of dieselgate to this person (kind of like trying to find a juror in a case) I was curious as to their reaction over what VW did. As usual most people care less.

So do we need to show the registration when we activate the cards? I cannot seem to find mine. Probably going to need to make a trip to the dmv

Dealer said they would double the $500 "dealer spend only" card on a new car if I bought. I said I got $4,000 off MSRP on my Passat for just walking in the door when I bought it.

Looks like we are $3,000 apart right out of the gate.

You should have this at hand any time you drive the car.

Do I carry the registration on me or in the car?
Section 320.0605, Florida Statutes, requires the registration certificate or an official copy to be in the possession of the operator of the motor vehicle or carried in the vehicle at all times. Therefore, either way is permissible as long as a copy can be produced for law enforcement upon demand.

Yup. If you put it in the glovebox (where it belongs)...you never have to look for it.

I was told I would get mine this week .That has come and gone now.
I have stood by VW through this whole thing but now I am a bit unhappy.
I can not sell my 2009 Jetta till I get my cards this kills the resale value getting so close to the end of the year.

Pardon me for asking as I haven't read every post in this thread. But a while back it was noted that Lindsay VW in VA was adding in another $100 for activating your cards with them. Has anyone done this and are there any "stipulations"? Also,,, are there any other dealers offering similar or better deals?

Thank you

Received mine yesterday. I applied on the first day it was available to register for. I too called them earlier this week and they told me it had just been mailed out this past Monday.

+1 on this.. I'm trading mine and this this is holding things up.. I looked at this $1K as making up for diminished value, not bonus cash. If I weren't trading/selling it, I wouldn't care how long it took for the package to arrive.

I don't recall anyone one in the New England states mentioning they received their package; I also registered on the 9th.

Yes, there are others....and at least one online parts vendor (not a VW dealer) offering extra money if you spend the entire Visa card with them. I thought about creating a Google Doc spreadsheet and starting a thread to gather up the businesses doing this, but figured it would be immediately black-holed or deleted since I'm not part of the clique here.........I mean club ;).

same here.....early registration on the 9th and 10th, four cars. NH and MA, none reveived yet.....Not whinning, just curious on how the mailings went out.
But thrilled with the engines in all cars and the $2.11/gal diesel. We will be keeping these cars.

The mailings probably went out semi-randomly. It's coming, don't fret.

Holy moly.... I thought this was a VW site not a Tesla site. Talk about getting side tracked!!

Any hints on which dealers give the best deals ? We got our cards the other day. I travel between SC and upstate NY pretty regularly and would like to maximize my package as much as possible.

turbobrick240: Really? DON'T tell ME what to do. If I want to fret, I'm going to fret. (..."semi-randomly..."??? Still trying to wrap my brain around that choice of words...:D)

My 11/9 registered cars "gifts" (NOT compensation!) from VAG were supposedly mailed on 12/7, but my mailbox remains empty. I think VAG is deliberately taunting me.

So, I guess I'm supposed to be angry again. I'll need to work up to it, start with a little fretting...

What...a...bunch...of...old...ladies...:p., driving a bunch of "SBD" automobiles ("smokeless but deadly!).
