I applied for it a couple of days after getting the letter, nothing yet. My other half has joked about using the $500 toward VAG-COM software to fix the recall.
That's not true. I signed up on the 6th, and I have a confirmation e-mail, for the goodwill package, including a confirmation number.I think you must be mistaken, the goodwill program went live on Monday Nov 9th.... There were rumors about it on the 6th but no official program yet from VW. If you signed up on the website at that time it was just to sign up for updates about a future recall, and you would need to go through again... Did you sign off on the disclosures and enter info such as your mileage?
Did they notice your DPF delete?Prognosis is a ruined ECM.
btw... the Roadside Assistance only starts after or when you actually get your goodwill package from the dealer. So even though you qualify and signed up online, the roadside assistance doesn't start yet. Only when you officially get your package. That's kind of bogus. If you qualify, you qualify. Why make owners wait 4 weeks?
Seems like Monday is the last day for VW to deliver the goodwill debit cards, as that day marks exactly 4 weeks since the package was announced and people were able to sign up for it. I am really curious whether they will keep their promise or default. Yesterday evening, I went back to their confirmation e-mail and checked whether it says the cards will be MAILED within 4 weeks, or DELIVERED within 4 weeks. Delivered is the word. It puzzles me why VW waited for the very last moment to mail the cards all at the same time instead of sending them as soon as owners requested the package. So, on Monday, we shall see how good the will of VW really is.
How many digits are in your confirmation number? VW has had 2 "signups" and both of them gave you a "registration number". The first signup was just to register you as an owner and the second one (where they asked your mileage) was for the "goodwill package".That's not true. If I recall correctly, the site went up on the 6th for a while, down again until the 9th, then back up again.

Don't think gasoline and diesel are toxic eh? how about you try drinking some of each and report back to us on how you feel.Driving highly toxic batteries is not my idea of safety.
Gasoline or Diesel comes from the ground, more natural.
Would you rather be a worker in a highly toxic battery producing facility or oil refinery ?
VW dealer I just visited said VW told them Goodwill Packages were mailed out this Wednesday.
You might have registered, but the registration didn't start until the 9th. That is why the verbage states the ownership cut-off was the 8th.I registered for the goodwill package on 11/6, which is 1 day short of 4 weeks ago and haven't seen anything from VWoA. When I called VWoA customer care today they said that they couldn't find my package information using the identifier that was in the confirmation email that I got.
The CSR was very polite and mentioned that it may be a logistical problem since they can't see goodwill requests before 11/9, mine was 11/6. She was able to register me again but it might be worth following up to check that registrations are actually in the system.
I got the longer registration number, like you describe, with initials, signup date (ends in 1106) then a 4 figure number. The e-mail also states thank you for registering for the goodwill package, etc.How many digits are in your confirmation number? VW has had 2 "signups" and both of them gave you a "registration number". The first signup was just to register you as an owner and the second one (where they asked your mileage) was for the "goodwill package".
I signed up for both. The first one gave me a 6 digit registration number.
When I signed up for the goodwill package, I got a longer registration number that consisted of my initials, then the signup date (20151109) and then a 4 (or more) digit number.
Have Fun!

you've got to be kidding me, would you rather bathe in gasoline or battery acid ?Don't think gasoline and diesel are toxic eh? how about you try drinking some of each and report back to us on how you feel.
btw the metals found in batteries come from the ground as well![]()
What! All TDIs are supercharged? No, all TDI's are supercharged.![]()
Just more useless blather. You're right, there's nothing particularly natural about any auto. The safety issue is laughable. Any car is a death trap under the right circumstances.Getting far off topic here (but there's nothing on-topic to discuss, so whatever), but what in the world is this supposed to mean? Nothing about riding in any vehicle is 'natural', and what is pushing said vehicle makes almost no difference at all.
Got an e-mail from VW yesterday saying they wanted to send me to see the new Star Wars movie. :?
Well I stand corrected! I think Mark SF is correct that it went up by accident on the 6th, which makes sense as that was when the rumors started flying around. That stinks for you, I hope they can expedite your package a bit if they just registered you now! This was the email that I recieved on the 6th after signing off on the disclosures:
Bryan Halter,
Thank you for requesting the Goodwill Package and signing up to receive communications regarding the 2.0L TDI emissions issue.
Your registration code is ....
Volkswagen is committed to finding a remedy as soon as possible. We would like to emphasize that the EPA has noted that vehicles affected by this issue are legal and safe to drive, and we are working to develop a remedy that will meet the expectations of the government agencies.
Within 4 weeks you should receive your Goodwill Package materials. You will need these, along with additional verification items, in order to activate the Goodwill Package at participating Volkswagen dealerships. You must remain the owner of the vehicle at the time of activation in order to receive the benefits of the Goodwill Package.
For immediate inquiries please contact VW Owner Customer CARE
Then you get to go down to the dealer and finish registration? How many digits are in your confirmation number? VW has had 2 "signups" and both of them gave you a "registration number". They didn't. It took me around 4 minutes to fill out the online requisition, and the reason for taking the car to the dealer to finalize matters is pretty obvious. VW would have gone from cheating to moronic not to require tangible (i.e., the car itself) proof of ownership before handing out free money. If they hadn't, they would have had 100X the number of fraudulent requests to deal with. Then you get to go down to the dealer and finish registration?
Good thing they didn't make it complicated.
In my case it was complicated, and involved two calls to them to see if they could get their IT folks to recognize that email address ending in something other than .com, .net, or .org were indeed valid. They were very polite and helpful, but I eventually registered using an alternate email address. What is interesting is that VW Credit has no problems with the same email address. Seems getting money is more important than handing out moneyThey didn't. It took me around 4 minutes to fill out the online requisition
