Doesn't matter: the comment on 'older cars' was idle speculation. VW has not indicated they will buy back any cars: no reason to expect them to. All I've heard from one dealer is that VW may give dealers the option to buy back cars that are in poor enough condition to not make them worth fixing. But that's speculation, too.

The problem at this point for those that signed up for the goodwill package .
You can not sell or trade in your car till you get the card and activate it . It is linked to the car and owner that log in for the package.
The sad part is most owners do not know of the program . There out reach is weak, kind of like a drive by at 60MPH and some one throwing a penny at you and hoping you catch it.
I did install a link on my web site front page to help my viewers to there free money.

From their "disclaimer" section: "Eligibility, registration, activation and redemption of Goodwill Package are subject to present and future program rules, which are incorporated by reference and may be modified by VWoA at any time without notice."

..... and FUTURE program rules ? "MAY BE MODIFIED without notice ? " Does this seem fishy to anyone else ???

BTW, is there a class action suit going on right now that I should look out for ? I'd like to get paid too, if possible, for not doing anything. lol

No, not fishy, just standard terminology in any program that is new and has not been fully implemented or tested.

Oh, on the 100+ class action suits pending...sure you can join one then wait 5 to 10 years and collect your $2.00. The only problem with those suits is proving monetary damages.

Great way to set up the consumer, I suppose. "Hi, we came to take your VW away and here's 50% of its value. Our rules and regulations have evolved, and since you got the Goodwill Package, you agreed to this way before we thought of this. What name do we make the check out to.... ?"

Oh, and thanks for the lawsuit reply. Minus the snarky sarcasm part.

BTW, if it's any indication, the last 6 numbers of my registration code is 190959.

Anyone care to guess if I'm 190,959th or 90,959th ?!

RM-20151109-18482 is how mine reads bold number is the counter.
If you are 190959 to day that leaves $300,000,000 not claimed just in the USA.

I went to www.vwemissionsinfo.ca and entered my VIN and updated my contact info.
Haven't heard anything since. And didn't get a confirmation # like they did in the US.
So I don't know if I did it correctly or not.
Did you receive any emails from VW Canada yet? I have received two already and since they had me on file I didn't bother to update anything. It seems to be just a waiting game but as long as they are aware you exist some correspondence should be forthcoming.

I got 2 emails early on from VW.
I went to the website and put in my VIN, but have not had an email from them since I updated my info.

I am wondering if anyone has gotten their good will package yet.. I was going through it this morning and it seems they have added some fine print that makes me wonder if I should accept it. When I started either it was not obvious or it was not on there like it is now. But see below. Thoughts?

*Restrictions apply. Affected customers eligible for the Goodwill Package are not required to waive their rights or release their claims against Volkswagen Group of America in order to receive the Package. Goodwill Package available only to registered owners or lessees as of November 8, 2015 of affected 2.0L TDI vehicles who can provide VIN and other requested verification data. Limit one per affected vehicle as confirmed by unique VIN; cards may not be transferred or sold. Affected customers must register for the Goodwill Package by April 30, 2016 and comply with all Program Rules, including activating at participating dealership within one year of issuance. Volkswagen Prepaid Visa Loyalty Cards are issued by MetaBank®, Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. This card can be used anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. Dealership card can only be used at participating Volkswagen of America dealerships. Both cards expire one year after date of issuance upon registration for the Goodwill Package. Void where prohibited and outside U.S. and Puerto Rico. See vwdieselinfo.com or call 1-800-822-8987 for important eligibility, registration, activation, and other Program Rules.
The 'restrictions apply' paragraph posted has been on the VWdieselinfo.com website for the goodwill package application since it was first offered. I make a screenshot of it the day I applied and it appears identical to the current one.

I'm hoping that since they have their vwgoodwillpackage.com site up to check card balances basically, that we will be receiving the cards very shortly.

I recently received this offer in the mail from VW for "Goodwill Package" $500 Prepaid VISA Card + $500 VW Dealership Card. (see http://www.vwdieselinfo.com/)

Has anyone signed up for this and actually received it? Did it really require trip to dealership (with the car in question) to activate the cards?

Btw, good thing is that seems like signing up to this doesn't require signing anything to waive right to sue VW on anything related to this emission issue...
