I took my Dealer Goodwill Card to my local dealer and exchanged it for a gift card that does not expire. I had a discussion with both the sales and service managers, stating that my 2015 wasn't going to need serviced anytime soon, and we mutually agreed that it would be better for us to both get something (they get the business, I still get the money) than to let the card expire and we both get nothing.
Try asking a manager if they will exchange your Dealer Goodwill Card for a gift card.
My dealer doesn't have "gift" cards. :-(

They told me the buy 3 get 1 free is only for VW tires (I'm getting for a Honda), and I brought in copies of the price I found. The parts guy said "I'll talk to the manager." The manager happened to walk by a minute later, and just said, "No." Funny, I said Discount Tire will match this price. Crickets........

I don't know about the buy 3 get 1 free. My guess is it'd be one promo or the other but not both. "VW tires" refers to the size. Bring the Discount Tire printout with you and ask to speak to a different manager about the price match and point out that it's on VW's website. I had to call about three different dealerships before I got my tires...and actually ordered them from the first one I called who told me no price matching. It was a pain in the butt but I still had $460 dollars on mine so I went through the hassle. I'm going to use whatever I have left on a $90 dollar cam sprocket I'll need for my ALH for its next timing change. If I'd seen your post earlier I would have taken you up on using that $100 bucks, but if you decide to keep it I can walk you through the process I used to get the tires price matched via PM.

You're probably right but that $500 was for the dealerships, not us. The $500 cash we received plus the amount we're getting from VW with the court approved settlement, I'd say we're going to come out alright and had a good little car in the meantime.

I have around $30 left. I may buy some VW labelled diesel exhaust fluid for the BMW diesel replacement. All DEF is the same, and the VW stuff is reasonably priced.

I have about 3.50$ left. Enough for a coffee and a donut, and not worth bothering with what's left.

Can't use the VW card online so I looked the stuff up, got the prices, then flipped it via email to my dealer. One lazy guy in the parts dept said I had to come in to make the order, but fortunately the other guy in parts said he could make the order for me.

I am running out of time to use mine. Intended to use it on tires or servicing for the TDI but I am turning it in. Looked at tire sizes but they didn't have any that fit my other cars (I have no other VWs).

What non car-specific parts/services are people spending the $500 on?

I'm getting a battery for the air cooled and the TDI on my dealer card. Group 42 battery came in the 97 VR6 Golf/Jetta. Same as my T1. Dealer price of $135 each. Interstate battery site is good for cross reference of batteries in different cars.

Well I had $247 and some pennies left on my wife's card. Since she won't need servicing until past January next year, I used her card to buy new 15" winter steelies and wheel covers for my Golf TSI. My Michelin X-ice Xi3 tires were still good though, so they went on the steelies. The wheel covers are '15-'16 base Jetta style. Good enough to get the job done. I also had my 30k (km) service done at the same time, so I was out of pocket for some of it. Told the clerk to cut up the card and throw it out after the transaction.

I spent most of it last March on a brake flush and the materials for the 40K service (which I DIY'd). I've got a little over $100 left, and I'm going in next week to buy supplies for the 50K service, an engine oil change and an engine air filter, which should close it out. If not, I'll just anticipate the 60K and buy fuel and compartment filters. That'll do it for sure.....

I used mine for window tinting. Got tint on the JSW, but presumably, you could get tint on any vehicle.

Oh, if anyone else wants to get rid of low balance cards, shoot me a PM. I wouldn't mind getting window tint on the Golf. ;-)

Stopped by Pugi VW (Chicagoland) to see if I could buy a set of
245/60/18 tires for my wife's CX9. No go - they didn't have
any and couldn't even order anything. The service advisor did
mention they could basically redeem the card for $500 in store credit
that would never expire. I asked them if they could transfer the tires
from their Mazda store which is a block away, and surprisingly he said that
I could actually buy them at the other store - they happen to share the customer
database and billing! Sure enough, the Mazda store is offering the same buy 3 get
1 for $1 deal! The 4 tires will cost me roughly $500 and all I have to do
is pay for mounting and balancing. Thanks VW!

I know that my dealer VISA expires in November, but don't know the exact date, whether it extends through to the end of the month or what. I don't particularly want to look through the previous 3K posts, so, anybody know?

May be a stupid question, but does the card have an expiration date on it?
I looked in the documentation that came with it, and the fine print said "-one year from date of issuance." So— I have no record of that so since next week is November, and I have to get in to the dealer and get rid of the rest of the credit on that card.....

Mine is stamped: Expires: 11/16
To me that means the end of November. Guess my daughter is getting a new battery this weekend!
