Just to let you all know, I finally went through the buy back process today. After the first fallout of canceling the appointment I gave a call to VW settlement again a couple of weeks ago and hey said that a supervisor had authorized the buyback and moved forward to scheduling again. This was today and all went smooth! I should be expecting a check from Chase in the next few days.

Details about my buyback 2010 Audi Q7. Bought in July 2015 wrecked and fixed it. Working flawlessly. There couldn't have been previous claims due to the dates I had it were before the Diesel gate ...

Good luck to all held up in the process !

Quick Update:

My NJ Salvage title was finally accepted and documents are now in "Documents Complete" stage. I made the claim on July 26th, then they rejected the title on Aug 21 and Sept 6. "Fingers crossed"

A friend of mine just had a buyback appointment for his 2015 Jetta with a rebuilt title. He purchased the car this year.

It was his only claim, so it may have not been scrutinized like those of us who have multiple cars going back.

He submitted documents around June 10th.

No movement on any of my cars.Even my clean titles have been there for 3.5 months and the one I received offer on and notarized it,has been there over 4 weeks and still cannot schedule appointment.
But I received Bosh settlement checks on my rebuilt titles I turned in in February and instead of $350,I got $175,so I think they will split the settlement money between the previous owner and current owner, which turns it eventually in.So maybe it's good news, that things are moving.

Call them on every clean title car. I had similar thing and when I spoke to them on the phone, person cleared some "red flags" and everything got processed a few days later.

Interesting thing I noticed that I used to get "Make Appointment" email within 15-20 minutes of upload. Now its always 24-48 hours later.

Called dozens of times and they always claim it's under review with no time frame.Called lawyers many times as well-emailed clean autocheck and still nothing.
There is no recourse for them holding claims,so they can do it as long they want.

Movement?

So I opened my email this morning to find this email from VW.

"Based on an initial review of your claim, we have determined that we need additional information for Volkswagen to process your claim. Please submit the following document:
PROOF_OF_NOT_SALVAGE Please click here to visit the Online Claims Portal where you can upload the document. If you do not want to submit online, you can choose to submit the document by mail or fax.
As a reminder, please ensure that your reference number is visible on the top of each document. Your reference number is 170849093."

Anyone been here yet? The vehicle has a title, is registered and is on the road. The title says "salvage title" on it. Guess I'll be contacting the lawyer again...

Just for clarification: This is a Salvage title 3.0 that was salvaged 11/16 and has an Oregon Salvage title and plates. My initial claim was denied over a month ago. So this isn't their "initial review", this is their review of my appeal to their denial.

just trying to summarize all this...a basic question...has ANYBODY been actually denied a buyback because of a rebuilt or salvage title?? That is.. anyone that is NOT in the excluded categories..E.G.and others... " Owners whose Volkswagen or Audi 2.0-liter TDI vehicle (1) could not be driven under the power of its own 2.0-liter TDI engine on June 28, 2016, or (2) had a branded title of assembled, dismantled, flood, junk, rebuilt, reconstructed, or salvage on September 18, 2015, and was acquired from a junkyard or salvage yard after September 18, 2015;" ,,, also ...."Owners who sell or otherwise transfer ownership of their Volkswagen or Audi 2.0-liter TDI vehicle between June 28, 2016 and September 16, 2016 "..."Owners who acquired ownership of their Volkswagen or Audi 2.0-liter TDI vehicles after September 18, 2015, and transfer title before participating in the Settlements;"

Many have. I have a 3.0 that was found ineligible, i.e. "denied". The next step is to appeal their denial. If you see my post above yours, you will see what has happened in my case.

As of right now, I have not seen anyone denied for 2.0 claims. But claims just get stuck for months with no info

If you'd read through this thread, you would see posts from people who had their 2.0 claims denied.

There have been many branded title 2.0 claims that have been denied because of a post 6/28/16 brand on the title, myself included.

The car that they claimed was ineligible was branded after 6/28/16, and was registered and driving between 9/18/15 and 6/28/16, so it was indeed elligible in every way according to the settlement agreement.

VW sent me an email stating that my vehicle was not eligible but they did not state a specific reason for that determination. I called the claims hotline, and was told the reason it was denied was because I purchased it with a salvage title (which is BS).

However I have appealed this claim to the Claims Review Committee who has the final say on which claims are eligible, and am currently waiting on their decision.

PS: VW can deny any claim they want to for any reason, but that does not mean that your claim is really not eligible because they don't have the final say. - I have a good 15 more branded title claims that have not been denied, but they're just sitting with no progress since May.

Bosch 2.0 Settlement Check Lacking

Was expecting a check for $350 from Bosch but received a paltry $117 check with no additional explanation for my 2015 2.0L TDI Jetta. I received 2/3 of the amount of the VW settlement earlier this year within 5 days of the dealer performing the software update and plan to participate in the mechanical upgrade to receive the final 1/3 from VW when notified. Very satisfied on that part but EXTREMELY disappointed in the Bosch Settlement amount. Does anybody have any insight?
PS, Bosch Settlement web sight in FAQ states "will receive $350" for eligible owners. No mention of "up to $350".

Your question has nothing whatsoever to do with this thread, but here's what I think happened: (1) Your car had an Eligible Seller who filed a timely claim, either with VW or directly with Bosch (so that person gets half of the $350); (2) in cases where there are multiple payments coming from VW, Bosch is also making multiple proportional payments. Since you get stage 1 of the fix, you got 2/3 of the restitution money from VW; Bosch then paid you 2/3 of the $175 they're going to pay you. When you get stage 2 of the fix done, VW and Bosch will both pay you the remaining 1/3 of the amounts they respectively owe.

The first one is directly contemplated in the Bosch settlement; the second is not--Bosch is supposed to be notified when a VW claim is approved, and they're supposed to process payment at that time. There's no provision for multiple proportional payments from Bosch.

Further discussion would probably be better put into one of the threads about the Bosch settlement, like this one: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=478060

I got first batch of Bosch checks like 3 months ago-all for $350.My checks I just got this week were all for $175 and I turned those rebuilt cars in feb and march this year. They were holding them for long time.I looked at autocheck at couple and they were one owner cars until they wrecked them last Dec and this Jan.
So I think they are paying them even though they were not "eligible sellers"
Since their cars got totaled and transferred to ins. company they are eligible for compensation and that obviously applied to Bosh as well.
As all we know there was no issue turning rebuilt or salvage title in until march. They realized they are paying as full buyback and compensation and the previous owners started to scream,so they put it all on hold.
Because of these checks I think that there will be the agreement between lawyers-they still will buy rebuilt cars as long they are operable, but if the previous owner owned the car as of sep 2015 and then transferred title to insurance company,we will get buyback and only half of the compensation.I am not 100% happy about it,but I am cool with it.

This email came in last night, 24 hours after the email quoted above. I did nothing between the two emails besides forward the email to legal counsel. I was advised that appeals are reviewed based on when they were filed.

I will keep the group advised and start a new thread if it looks to be beneficial.

"We have reviewed the documents you submitted as part of your claim with reference number 1704909. Currently, your application appears to contain all of the necessary documentation to determine your eligibility.
Next, your document package will be re-reviewed by the Court appointed Claims Supervisor to ensure completeness. If your document package is confirmed to be complete, we will proceed to determine your eligibility and will inform you whether you are eligible to participate in the Diesel Emissions Settlement Program.

Hey guys, 2 questions, I have 6 salvage history cars total, 1st one went thru like butter! but that was 6 months ago. so i went and bought 5 more. all are in limbo and from what I am reading and hearing it just a waiting game. I have 2 of them that technically fall in the exclusion period ( that few months on the agreement) is there any chance this will fly eventually too? 2nd ? i bought a 2015 Passat, portal said it or allowed me to make a claim for emissions modification , which is what I wanted and was going to keep it. A month went buy after submitting and I get an email saying its ineligible for the modification. Any idea why ??? i have appealed it but the response said it will take several weeks for a response. I bought a second for my wife on the same premise and am going to sell it now instead. Any help is appreciated greatly

When are the most recent first-time submissions for 3.0 salavage titled cars in this thread? It seems that most here submitted a fairly long time ago, and I was curious if even the very recent submissions (if there are any) are getting rejected/sandbagged just the same?

Based on what has been said here recently--that VW and the lawyers have made a decision about salvage vehicles--I resubmitted my rejected documents over the weekend. As of now it is sitting in 'document review', which is better than automatic rejection within 12 hours. Maybe there is hope.

Am I the only non-dealer in this thread?

I have spoken with class counsel, and they deny coming to any such decisions.
I'm guessing that once an agreement has been reached we will receive a timely email outlining a simple process to get these claims moving.

I'm not a dealer, and I know 5-6 other owners in the same boat as me, all of whom are not dealers.

I believe these claims won't move until around September 2018. It makes sense for VW to hold their money as long as possible, hoping some claims will drop off, and I don't think there's any legal or financial consequence for not doing so. If they can hold claims for 6 months or so, why not 18 months?

They are holding even my clean titles for over 4 months and there is nothing I can do.I even sent autocheck for my vehicles to lawyers in CA with no results.Simply put-there is no penalty for VW violating the 10 business days time that is in the settlement,so they will hold them now for as long they want.
And I also checked-there is still no decision on rebuilt/salvage titles. Now they say they hope by end of the year.It takes them longer then the actual settlement, because EPA and CARB was pushing it ,but now they are not involved, but they should be.

So are there any long term storage concerns for diesel fuel that is specific to the TDI and the potential long-term bubyback wait time? I google searched and didn't find anything specific. On one of the cars I own the alternator went out and even though I have a new battery in it I don't think I can drive it long enough to burn up the half tank of fuel that's left in it.

I am in Iowa ,so I will have to add winter treatment to all of them to prevent diesel freezing.Batteries will be junk in while and mice may get inside.I guess VW don't care, plus it will cost them about $100 per car per month for miles not driven.Figure they are holding 10000 cars,so every month it will cost them about $1mil more. The money is set aside,so I guess they don't care, but if they don't care, why hold it?

Another VW stalling tactic...

I have a claim in on a 2014 Jetta Sportwagon with a rebuilt salvage title that I bought in October 2016. It is our daily driver, so mileage is accumulating (and of course, potential settlement $$ going down). I've had the paper work in for weeks now. Initially, VW requested a couple of docs that I was required to mail in, but for weeks now, the website has shown "all documents received and under review". I called in a couple of times, and got the "additional research required for this claim" mantra. Fine.

Yesterday, i got a "Documents Incomplete" email, the reason being, "Proof of Government Issued Vehicle Registration - Not a Valid Form of Registration". After one chat session and two phone calls, and finally speaking to a supervisor in the Documents department, I found this...

In TX, when you register a car for the first time, you get a "Proof of Application for Title and Vehicle Registration" document along with the window sticker. It shows all the title and registration fees paid, and clearly states on the bottom of the document in all caps "THIS IS YOUR PROOF OF REGISTRATION". The Document supervisor says VW will not accept this document because it does not have the word "Renewal" on it.

So, I have to renew the registration, wait for the window sitcker to come, and then submit the document that comes with the window sticker that has the word "renewal" on it (and pay the notary again because VW requires a notarized form for claims from TX). Nice!! In the meantime, more miles go on the car. I was also hoping to turn in the car before the registration had to be renewed.

I guess the good news is at least somebody is again looking at the claim. But who knows what else will come up...
