I have an 06 A5 and that's exactly how my blades are removed and installed.

So that's what the "early" blades look like. The dealer had refills for those, but not for mine (June 06). I ended up buying the complete blades.

On mine you put the blades in the maintenance park position, lift em off the glass and then push a button on the blade housing and then the housing pulls off a bayonet kinda thing.

Do the early A5s have the maintenance park feature?

The original Aero Wipers, 05.5 Jetta, and 04.5 B5.5, were just lift/rotate/change, as shown in the post.
Sometime in '06 the Aero Wipers were redesigned. EDITED after further review of the posted picture.

I posted about this some time ago after replacing mine. Early ones were as shown here. Later ones have a clip that locks them in instead.

Yes, tap the wiper lever just after you shut the engine off.

And if your engine is already off, insert the key and briefly turn the electrical system on and off - now tap the wiper lever. This is explained in the Owner's manual.

I put the wipers into "maintenance mode" each time I wash the car.
