Chris here from VW of Langhorne in Langhorne, Pa.

I have an idea! My TDI inventory is starting to be non-existint so what am I to do!?

How about extending your bumper to bumper warranty coverage up to 100k with a genuine VW warranty valid at any VW dealer accross the country!

I will pass along any of the many different plans thru VW at just a $300 surcharge from VW of Langhorne.

What does this mean? How about keeping money in your pocket by buying from me vs your local dealer. Why pay your local dealer $2400 when you can get the same warranty from me for approx $1275

Here is an example:
2004-2006 VW TDI {any model} w/ less then 24k on the odometer
$100 deductible
5yrs or 100k{whichever comes first}{from Jan of the year of your car}
Gold Plus Coverage=$1275
Platinum Coverage=$1395
Rental and Towing covered for the term of the coverage!

Again, there are many plans and coverages! I will set up personal plans for any TDIClub member that inquires!

I ask that if you take advantage of this special TDIClub offering that you donate a small token to the Club!

Thank You for your time.

Hey Chris. Brilliant idea. I had a VW plan on the old Passat and believe me that was the best investment I made on that car. The new 06 Jetta TDI is a beautiful car, and the 05 Golf TDI has been bullet proof. Both TDI's came from Chris. How is everything?

Will it warrant what VW doesn't want to cover if my fuel system goes south? BTW, Chris, it was nice to talk to you the other day. I'm still *sorta* looking to sell my Golf, so we may or may not be able to do business. You're #1 on my list of dealers, though. :)

sounds like a great plan. I had a very similar plan on my '04 Passat Wagon. I just sold it in order to purchase a '03 Jetta TDI Wagon. Can't offer much of a warranty with a vehicle that has 77K miles, heh?

With due respect to Chris, I still believe that most of the time extended warranties are a waste of money. If things are going to go wrong, many will do so within the first couple of years. If so, THEN buy the warranty. If not, it's probably cheaper to fix as you go along.

I would like to learn more information about VW prepaid service plans...how much are they, what do they cover, and when can you buy them? With expensive items such as timing belt changes and the DSG fluid change on the maintenance schedule, the prepaid service plans may be worth looking into. Thanks, Chris.

Though the warranty Chris is offering covers a boat load of items beyond what may be considered catostrofic, I usually try to define these programs as a major medical insurance programs. Example: Tranny problem, pre-mature TB failure, HVAC failures, fuel system problems, major electrical problems, etc. All it would take is one of these major problems to occur to get your money back and probably get into the black or a few other not so major ordeals. The beauty of these programs besides the great price Chris is offering is the fact that if you decide to sell B4 the 100K mark, you add a great value and assurance for that prospective customer resulting in a much easier sale comparitively. Sure, some can repair the minor issues and some major issues as well on their own but, those trannies, TB failures, fuel system, and HVAC issues can break the bank of the best of us. Are these programs for everyone? Name me one thing that everyone agrees on. What a program like this does is provide piece of mind. Another important thing you must keep in mind here is the fact that most programs (ask Chris about his program) require that the vehicle be serviced and maintained with documentation according to the mfgs. recommended intervals in order to reap the benefits. In other words, these programs are not for the "put fuel in and drive it only" type owner. I doubt that this would be a problem with most here but, I thought you should know this. I really wasn't a fan of these warranty programs in the past due to their relatively high cost but, the discount price of what Chris is offering is a real no brainer. Later!

Nice to meet you on saturday morning! This was not the reason I had asked you the mileage on your Passat, however, add just $200 surcharge and you could do the same warranty!

whats the surcharge on an '03 Jetta GL with 63k mi?
Unfortuantely the 63k has exceeded the new bumper to bumper warranty by 13k. Allthough I can get some over mileage exceptions by a couple thousand, this would be unnatainable.

You could obtain a used car extended warranty, however, the car would have to be inspected first.

Allthough I normally conduct business in a private matter, I will post the first few requests to try and give a feel for MY pricing!

On a 2006 model year TDI w/ the 7years starting w/ Jan 2006 and up to 100k, MY price to you would be $1671. This is for the Platinum coverage!

Yep, I bought one of those in 2002. Burned through that warranty in 2 years with more than 110,000 on the O.D.:D

Never used it.

But I did got my window clips replaced at Dana VW in Northhampton MA where the car was purchased last year and they tried to nail me $78 labour to replace a rear tail light bulb.

I always keep a couple dozen in my glove box along with head light bulbs and fuses and my Vag-Com cable and Diad-XP Tablet and glow plugs from Danix in the box along with a MAF and various other parts.

Though a great deal but to some of us who do more than 50K a year it's like throwing chicken feathers at a Tar Party.

It's certainly hit and miss.

MOST of my vehicles I've never had to use it.........the few MAJOR claims have more than paid for the price of admission of all the others.

Example would be the covered $3000 trans in my Super Duty paid for the last three warranties I never made a claim on.

Plus, IMO it's easier to come up with a few bucks extra a month as opposed to MAYBE having a huge, unexpected repair.

The reason i didn't finance it on the Jetta was even with a 750 credit score I could only get a 6% rate...........figured I'd put it on a 0% credit card when the time was right.

Somewhat related to this thread.........Bought one of those 5 in 1 printers last year at Office Depot. $60 for a 2 year warranty.

Paper tray doesn't feed paper after a year. Warranty company sends a credit certificate for the the full $500 purchase price........and we keep the broken printer!!!

Of course the new wireless super duper new one cost $800!!.....LOL!!!

What's the difference between gold and platinum extended warranties? Is it just that platinum affords you a rental car w/ tow?

My car is pre-ordered and coming in August. I'm getting a lot of mixed feedback from people on these warranties. Some say that VW dealers sell non-VW extended warranty insurance. These insurers usually go bankrupt before they pay a policyholder. Do you sell geniune VW extended warranties?

I'm not really interested in the free car rental and tow as I own 3 cars and I am a member of the Automobile Club of Southern California w/ 4 tows per year.

How much for a gold extended warranty for 7 years at 100k miles? Can I get a copy of the policy before I purchase? I want to read the fine print. Does it replace brake pads, etc. BMW offered such a warranty that replaced brake pads and other wear and tear items (not tires).

The warranties I sell are geuine VW warranties. I DO NOT deal in aftermarket warranty companies!

To answer your question on the difference between the Gold Plus and the Platinum warranty is this:

The Gold covers:
Engine
Transmission
Drive axel
Steering
Brakes
A/C
Front Suspension
Electrical

The Gold Plus covers all of Gold plus:
Cooling System
Fuel System
A/C system
Steering
Front Suspension
Rear suspension
Electrical
The Platinum covers all that and the rest of the entire car w/ the exception of this:
brake linings, brake drums and rotors, disc brake pads, std trans clutch components, air bags, solar powered devices, hinges, glass, lenses, sealed beams, trim moldings, door handles, lock cylinders, tires, batteries, light bulbs, upholstery, paint, bright metal, freeze plugs, heater and radiator hoses, exhaust systems, shock absorbers, audio, security or other systems not factory installed, work such as front end alignment or wheel balancing, constant velocity joints, safety restraint systems, cellular phones, electronis transmitting devices{except those specifically listed under silver, gold, or gold plus coverage},radar detectors, appliances, near object avoidance systemand all oither laser radar cruise control components, vinyl and convertible tops.

As far as the 7yr, 100k{w/ a start date of Jan 2006 } would be$1428 for the Gold, $1526 for the Gold Plus and/or $1671 for the Platinum w/ a $100 deductible.

As far as the rental and towing, this comes w/ every plan.

I'm still trying to get more information on the VW prepaid service plans. This is distinct from the extended warranty that Chris is offering, but I think it's still very important. What I've learned so far is that VW does sell prepaid service plans, but they don't necessarily cover all the items on the maintenance schedule. Why would they sell a prepaid plan that didn't cover all the items on the maintenance schedule? I don't know...but a thread in the A5 forum says that the 40,000 mile service runs $800 at the dealership, half of which is the change of the DSG fluid.

I am interested in buying a prepaid service plan that covers ALL scheduled maintenance through the 50,000 mile warranty period. I am going to call VWoA to see if they offer any such complete maintenance plan. Chris, if you can illuminate this picture, I think you could sell a lot of such prepaid service plans.

Thanks,

Tom

I called VWoA. The VW RealDriver Car Care program is a form of pre-paid maintenance. You can pay a certain amount up front, and your oil changes will be covered for the number of miles (up to 60,000) that you buy coverage for. Or there's an enhanced level of pre-paid maintenance that will cover the oil changes and the filters, such as the air filter, fuel filter and cabin filters. Unfortunately, the program is offered by a third-party and not VW, and it does not cover all of the items on the maintenance schedule. You will still be out of pocket for everything not mentioned above. RealDriver did tell me however that they have a complete pre-paid maintenance program in place for Lexus that covers everything on that vehicle's maintenance schedule, and they hope to have one for Volkswagen by model year 2007. That way, if you buy the program, all scheduled maintenance is paid for in advance and is covered.
