VW dealers will have so much business when...

the turn-in starts. I bet they'll have cars lined up and even if they try to schedule times for turn-ins, it'll be like the NFL; always running late, etc. If you get to chose your turn-in time (and you should be able to schedule it yourself), pick the earliest time of the day. I can't wait to get this out of my driveway.

It could get busy down the road a bit; but keep in mind that most diesel drivers only know what they've heard in the news or received from VW... People on this site are a fraction of 1% of the TDI owners turning cars in.

Yea, but 300k+ have registered already. I guess it will depend on where you live and how many there are in your area, plus how many are going to ride it out for 2 years before turning it in.

I doubt the Audi dealers will be busy at all. There just aren't that many A3 TDIs.

I can see the VW dealers getting swamped at first.

I think a narrative campaign is about to begin. Sales will rise, no matter the net number of conquests away from the brand. There are now increasing numbers of job cut stories, if you've been google news'ing VW. "This is what the Americans did, here's what we have to do".

I find it interesting that other TDIClub members have been contacted by dealers, I have not.

Are the dealers waiting for something to happen? My dealer knows that I and others have bought affected vehicles, yet, they've been silent.

It would seem to me that if they are as hurting as the press and TDIClub posts say they are, they would welcome any business, even in advance of a final buyout or repair agreement.

Am I missing something?

Not my business they wont.. Walk in, get the check, walk out.

They approached me when I had my oil change done a few weeks back, but that was it. I told them i had no interest in getting into another vw.

I had two different VW employees email and call me to make sure 'the process is going smoothly'....I politely explained that I'll never own another VW product and they quickly had to be somewhere else.

They might get my business if they offer the right incentives. I'm looking at either an Alltrack or a Jetta GLI, but only if the price is right. I don't want to get too upside down financially just to go back to them. I might even prefer to buy used, but for the right deal.....

Was told dealers will have a rep on site and will be doing 8 turns in max a day. They will be scheduled ahead of time in the turn in person arrives at the dealership. The dealership you selected will be the turn in location and that person assigned there will call you to schedule..

I'd prefer if VW loses it's presence here in the U.S. My Jetta and Golf are going back and I will not be buying another VAG group car. And this is coming from someone who had a MK4 as a first car and several TDI's in the family. Loved the brand, even visited VW's Autostadt in Germany. Won't be getting my money going further.

Your screen name is 'just a little too cool" - - - wish I'd done it first!!

.......my selling/servicing dealer has provided a "VW Settlement Buyback" online guide...............and with the ALLTRACK 6M available 1st Qtr 2017, I am stoked....

Well, sort of. I do have concerns, reservations fears, whatever about the possible buyers remorse associated with the significant fuel efficiency differential between my bar-setting TDI and the 1.8 gas turbo ALLTRACK....................

Plus I still have difficulty believing the $$$ amount which looms ahead for me!

One an hour, get out. They should strive for 2/hour.

I have different reservations with the other cars, mostly just low speed performance. I love good acceleration, ,but never cared about top speed. The TDI was great for that. I drove the regular 1.8 Sportwagen and was underwhelmed by the regular automatic transmission. I'm guessing the DSG will help, but I really don't need 4motion and I hate paying for things I don't want.

We're on the same page w/the accel/torque of our TDI 2.0........
I regret to hear your 1.8 GSW 'take'............
Perhaps - with a 6M like my 'wagen - the little turbo's torque will become more evident.
Yes, not much snow in the Bay area - at least during my time at San Jose State.
At least we've circa two years to be fussy about a decent replacement.

I just know a month after I make my car decision they'll put the 2.0 in the Alltrack, or the turbo in the Mazda6... I think the major difference, if I get the 1.8T, is going to be re-calibrating my driving style. I don't go over 3000 rpm very often in the TDI, I think it'll be all the time with that motor!

I'm talking about acceleration from a dead stop. That is what wasn't ideal. It actually felt good if you punched it while already up at 25mph or so. I would even potentially be fine with it on a cheaper used car, but I wouldn't spend new prices on it.
