I was wondering if my rim will fit. My mechanic says it will, have my doubts still lol. It's has 38mm offset. It's a focal X. 15" rim.

Doubtful, I think the stock Vr6 rotor is 288mm, at least that's what I've got on mine. I've got plenty of clearance with a 16" rim. Wanna' buy a set of 16s? Got a nice set of 16" NBs in the basement.

288's will fit some of the 15"-ers, 312's, not so much.
cheers,
Douglas
I checked tirerack where I bought my rims. Says a it's a wagon 1.8t and the golf 1.8t. I was told that the 1.8t and vr6 is the same 288mm. I tried looking for a vr6 locally but not luck. Just to see if it actually fit.

There are just too many to list....
288mm brakes were used on many cars that left the factory with 15" wheels. I have those front brakes on one of my ALH cars, still using the stock 15" Avus wheels.

Yeah, the Golf and Jetta GLS with the AWP or AWW 1.8t engine option used the 288mm front brakes as standard* and had the 15" Avus wheels same as the other 4 cyl engines.

*very early 1.8t cars still used the 280mm ones, but literally only for about a month of production, and only the weird AWD engine (2000 model year only). There was a VIN spit with them early on. Sort of like the very VERY early 1998 ALH New Beetles getting the BW-sourced VNT that failed almost before their first service before the Garretts replaced them. Sometimes ETKA doesn't keep this information during updates, which makes it a bit head scratchy to figure out.
