Seeing if someone has an idea on this.

Recently had DMF replaced by Das Autohaus and then I replaced front sway bars, ball joints, control arm suspension brackets, rear sway bars.

I get a vibration between 30-40 mph but only when accelerating, when I let off gas, the vibration is gone. When I reach over 40mph (probably more like 42 mph)...the vibration is gone. Along with the above, and prior to noticing vibration, I got new Michelins along with a front end alignment. Thinking it was maybe a bad balance or bent wheel, took it back to tire shop for a rotate and balance....but still get the vibration.

Last week, I did oil and tranny oil change and next week doing Timing belt. Girl has 160,800 miles on her, other than the shake in the front at those speeds, she's great!

Any ideas?

I've read on different car forums that it could be the drive shaft.....any logic to this?

Thanks in advance.

Bent Wheels.. mexican rims are not that stable. They straighten very easily if you have cash!

I was gona say uve had so many things replaced that a fresh perspective (another mechanic) looking may find the problem better. But yeah bent mexican rims is a good one. I currently have 1 bent stock rim.

But wouldn't a bend rim vibrate at all speeds and whether I was pressing the accelerator or not?

This is the part that confuses me....it is only between 30-40mph and when pressing accelerator.

If you can make the noise repeat at will, you have a chance.

see if you can get the noise to change by a little turn right or left.

this would indicate axle (CV joint) problems.

Check your CV axles - have had this issue and then resolved.

I also had my CV axle vibrate only while the car was under load. I would notice the vibration more at certain speeds. In the winter it took like 30 minutes of driving to hear any thing as the grease took a bit to warm up. It never knocked when i was turning.
Make sure you do not get axles from a local parts store as they will sell hollow axles which will act like a tuning fork and really vibrate as certain rpms. ( i had this happen to me)
I did get autozone to locate me OEM solid core axles at a really good price and I have had them in my car for over a year now with no issues. If you want to know part numbers of these axles, i can get them for you.

Inner CV. Exact same problem I had. Vibration under power and only at certain speeds.

I guess it could be something else but this is what I strongly suspect.

Update on this...ordered new drive shafts and replaced them tonight...problem is solved. No vibration. The inner boot on driver side was leaking around the boot on the cup side. The boot wasn't cut but when I would push the shaft into the cup, some of the grease spit out of the boot in one area. There was also a good amount of grease slung around that area.

Thanks for all your help!
