Thought I'd start a new thread about this. I know a few are going down from Vancouver, so let's get the cruise setup. Maybe we can pickup more people along the way. From the US Border it's 275km so with a few stops we should be able to do it in 3 hours. That said I was thinking we meet up at the Truck Crossing at 8:30 and we'll be in Olympia for noon.

Stops to pick others up, perhaps Bellingham, Mount Vernon, Everett, Seattle?

Oh ya, bring FRS radios if you have them.

Comments? People interested in joining, locations, etc please post.

FRS Radios - Those little $60 walky talky like devices. Lets you razz the lead car if they are going to slow or take a wrong turn.

Also good for keeping together during long trips and chitchat during the drives.

Sounds good.. I would like to meet any folks going down from Everett. We could meet at the Truck/scale rest area just past the Everett Mall exit on I-5 south. Let me know what time would be good.

I think I'll be going to this GTG.
So where should we meet in Vancouver?

Dale: I'll be there for the day only so maybe we can drive back up to Vancouver together.

Bentzen: I really want to see those sweet PES wheels in person!

Hey chaps, magnum759 and I will be coming out from Hwy 20 at either Burlington or Mt. Vernon. If you let us know approx. what time you will be buzzing by we can hitch up. I have UHF radios that may be able to talk to your FSR units just need to know what channel youz be chattin on!
Later!

It will be tough to determine times due to border crossings, but we'll try our best. Don't want to do TOO many stops, so how does this sound?

Leave Truck crossing at 8:30am.

Leave Bellingham 9:30am (should be enough time to cross the border) (need meeting place (exit number?))

Leave Berlington 10:15am(need meeting place (exit number?))

Leave Everrett 11:00am ((need meeting place (exit number?))

Seattle, depends where for when.
Give me a location.

Arrive Olympia around 12:30.

I'll leave the return trip open as many will go on different times, days, routes, etc.
I'm sure you can find someone to go part of the way up with.

As for the FRS radios, how is Channel 6, with no security channels (works better incase someone has one of the older ones).

Please update me if any of the times are not doable and add exit numbers and meeting locations.

Fred, Magnum and I will meet at Farmhouse Inn on Hwy 20 around 10am, then we will blast over Best Rd. via Conway to the Conway/La Conner exit on I-5. Not sure of the exit number (I will get it though!). It's the next exit south of the Mt. Vernon (downtown) exit. Out in the farmland, feed mill silos off on the right as you head south.

Sounds good kiwibru.

OK, Confirmed stops now are Truck Crossing(8:30 leaving time)
Exit 221 on I-5 (Shell Station)(leave at 10:15).
Only if someone chimes in for any of the other stop, we'll meet there as well.

Fred, I don't think you want to add the Farmhouse Inn to the stop list as it is some miles West of I-5 on Hwy 20. Magnum and I will meet there at 10am and then proceed to Exit 221 on I-5,(the Conway Exit, also Hwy. 534 exit) which is south of Mt. Vernon. Silver Golf and a NB. There is a Shell station just down from the south bound exit (after you turn right at exit stop sign). We will wait for you there. Easy entry back onto I-5 south. Don't know if my UHF radio will hit your channel 6 but will try and reprogram if necessary...or trust in timing and location! It may be closer to 10:30 when we arrive at the Shell station. Thanks, see you guys!

I understand that we don't want to make too many stops on the way to Olympia.

However, I'd appreciate it if we could make a 10 minute pit-stop in Northgate Mall, so I could pick up something. That might even be a good point for a break

If anyone's looking for a GOOD can-opener, you can get one here too

Just to clarify, are we meeting in the same place as last year, which is the Duty-Free Shop parking lot, on the CDN side, at the truck crossing, at 8.30am?

I'll have my FRS on channel 6.

Orignally there were others who wanted to join in the treck down, but now they are leaving earlier so I doubt we will make those stops.

Here are the confirmed start/stops:

Truck Crossing(8:30 leaving time)(meet about 8:15/8:20) at the Dutyfee place.
Exit 221 on I-5 (Shell Station)(leave at 10:15-10:30). This is long, but I tried to give us enough time for the border crossing wich is a big unknown this far in advance

Update, Magnum has to work on the weekend. I will be the only waiting car at Exit 221.
Can you guys transpose your frequency? I can configure in UHF (GMRS) on the following:
464.5000
464.5500
467.7625
467.8125
467.8500
467.8750
467.9000
467.9250
If you don't know that is fine, I will research it on my end...or just wait without a radio!

kiwibru, do you have a cell phone/ how far are you from the I5? Perhaps I can call you once were close to crossing the border and then meetup with as much wait time if it's just you to pickup? That way neither of us have to wait too long as I don't think we will be making any other stops anymore.

Fred, good idea. None of your FRS frequency lap overs are available on my GMRS unit anyway!
So, my cell is 360-317-8205. I will turn it on once I get off the ferry around 9:30am. It is about 20 mi/32km from Anacortes to exit 221 (Conway) on I-5. See you guys later!

Bill, others, either post here, or email me if you are coming. So we have an approximate count. As for the meeting place, is the "Country Gas Station" at the corner of 176th & 8th fine (where we met for the last Vancouver GTG)?

We'll be there at 8.30am, channel 6. Are we meeting in the Duty Free parking lot, or the Country gas station?

The Duty Free will get us in the line faster, though I think you're supposed to purchase something from the store, and show your receipt when leaving.

hey guys! I live in Edmonds- is exit 221 far away from me? Edmonds is just south of Everett- i'd be willing to drive a bit to catch a caravan of TDI's heading down to olimpia.

How many of us will there be?

my e-mail is in my profile!

Drop me a line if you'd like- we could also swap cell phone numbers too
