After the success of the first Vancouver/Lower Mainland area TDI GTG we've had on over a year, even with the crappy weather and Super Bowl Sunday, it's time to plan the second GTG.

So the date of the next GTG will be on March 14 at 11 am until whenever the last person leaves. The address is Unit 8 30508 Great Northern Ave, which is the 3rd street after you exit Highway #1 at the Mt.Lehman exit. There's penty of parking and everyone is welcome. There will be kids and dogs so feel free to bring the whole family! Just make sure to bring some camping chairs to sit in as seating is pretty much non-existent.

Link to Google Maps

Like I said before, if there's enough interest and participation, this will be a monthly deal. And the shop that's hosting the GTG (JS Performance) has mentioned to me that they're looking at TDI Club specials on things like maintenance and related items, as long as there's enough people showing up, so let's make sure we get those TDI's out to the GTG!!

How did the meeting turnout in February at JS Performance?

The GTG in February turned out great! Even though it was raining, and the fact that it was Super Bowl Sunday, there was somewhere around 25 cars and 40-45 people! And if you read the very first post at the top of this page, you'll see that this is actually for the upcoming March 14th GTG (this Sunday!). Hope to see you there!!

I don't have to work next week... I am gonna caravan up with Jorry.
Anyone need anything from Bora Parts? If he has it in stock I might be able to bring it up with me.

I had a great time. It was good to meet a few more or the Canadian crew.
Thanks JSP and Ed for setting up the GTG. It was a great excuse to drive my car some more.

It was great to see everyone again, especially those that didn't make it to the first GTG! It was nice to see our US friends make the trip up to take part, great to see you Jorry and Travis. And thanks a lot for getting my Diesel-itis up to full tilt again after the ride in your car Travis!

And of course, thanks to Jose and Leigh-Anne for hosting again! Great job!

Hopefully we'll see some more TDI's at the nex GTG in April!

Thank you Jose and Leigh-Anne for hosting and Ed for playing the roll of facilitator.

Riding in Travis's car; are you bitten by the mod bug or hammered by it?

Great to see the oldies and the new ones.

I had never been to a car club, was awesome seeing all the Jetta's.

A big thank you to Jose, Leigh-Anne and the others that got involved in diagnosing my cars problem.

If you did not know we bought the 2006 TDI wagon about a month ago. I noticed that we hit about 3000 RPM at 100 Kph which seem high to me.

I mentioned it and Jose looked at the tranny and found it was the wrong one. It was a EGT(for a 2 litre gas) and should have been an EGR for a 1.9 TDI.

Good news I dropped into the sellers lot today. He apologized, and said he would get a replacement tranny installed and take care of it. He wants us to be happy and did not want any money! He called me back a few hours latter and we have it booked for next week. That's integrity!

Steve

Hey Steve that's great news!! Hopefully the seller warranties the "new" transmission too as he's probably getting a used tranny from some wrecker and there's always a chance that something could go wrong with it down the road. Also, is he changing the clutch? Because as far as I know the 2.slow clutch won't work for the TDI. Hopefully the seller knows this and takes the necessary steps.

Once it's done, it's going to feel like a new car when you're only turning 2500 rpm at 90 kph instead of 3500!!

By the way it was nice meeting you and your wife! Hope to see you again next month at the next GTG. Jeep checking back here for info!!
