Vancouver BioDiesel

I'd like to see who is seriously interested in finding a way to make BioDiesel available in Vancouver (BC).

At the last GTG, a few of us "locals" spoke about either making our own or somehow finding a way to make some available in the Lower Mainland.

To make this a reality, I think we need at least 5+ people committed to getting it off the ground (sourcing or refining) - others would certainly follow!

In a few months I will definately be in. I have actually started to do some more research with Nicole about this, and would like to visit some of the people making it in the States. There will be some demonstrations at TDIFest... hope I can wait that long.

Hmmm... been a while since this came up.

I think we are all waiting to see how Geoff Hill at UBC does with his BioDiesel iniatitive. It is based off of locally sourced WVO. Fred and I were at his demonstration back in early July.

The last anyone heard was everything was in place to set up a "commercially accessable" source for BD. He was hoping to have his 1000 liter refinery ready by the end of August. He stated he had access granted to set up on a site near UBC. Currently he has a 200 liter B20 blend that is used by UBC Plant Operations for powering the landscaping equipment and other small stuff.

Additionally, he was in the process of having his product tested to see if it meets ASTM standards.

The end of August is quickly approaching! Hopefully we'll hear something from him soon!

I would be interested in taking part but I don't know a whole lot about biodiesel except what it is and the other basics.
