Magic Forum,

Stupid question: Do I have to remove the intake/egr to get the valve cover off?

I can't seem to figure out how to get it off as it keeps getting caught on the back of the EGR body or the little nubs on the backside of the camshaft pulley.

BHW 2005 passat

Thanks in advance,

It's tight, but you can remove the valve cover without taking off the EGR if you rotate the cam (bump the starter) so that the nubs on the reluctor wheel are out of the way enough to squeak that part of the valve cover out through the gaps in the nubs.
