According to a press release, the recall is against the EA 189 CR TDI engine, not the 2015+ models that have the EA 288 CR TDI engine.
Maybe someone else can confirm this.

So why aren't the 2016 models being delivered to customers and being held in port? That's what I've been hearingThis is true. They have their years messed up a bit in the press.

Same reason Touareg is off the website.....

because no emission certificate has been granted. So why aren't the 2016 models being delivered to customers and being held in port? That's what I've been hearing
Or it could be the electric car movement which is secretly supported by the nuclear power industry.

yes, VW will lose sales to Tesla! in a pig's ear! You can buy (almost) three Touaregs for the cost of one of these Model X SUVs. if only Volkswagen would add that third row of seats ;-)
The touareg is perfect as it is. No need for a ridiculous 3rd row in there. Need a 3rd row? buy a van lol
Hey Ken, can you chime in, please, on what tunes will/might be available 'post-recall' or is too soon to know? I currently have Malone 1.5. thanks!I disagree, the 3rd row in the X5 was the selling point for me. The minivan was no longer needed, but the capability to carry extra small people occasionally was very important. *And enough torque to make them all throw up*
Would it be cheaper to obtain a second ECU? One to contain the updated flash from the dealer (in the event sticker renewal requires proof of update) and one for everyday driving until the next renewal?Hey Ken, can you chime in, please, on what tunes will/might be available 'post-recall' or is too soon to know? I've been drooling over all the TDI T5's here in Germany for the past week...Wish I could bring one home.I'd love a diesel van, can't get one.
You would pack up and move just because of the emission issues? Also, it's just a matter of time before all states will have emission testing. It's just a passing of a simple legislation.Or you could move to a non emission state and not do anything. Let everyone go crazy with this reflashing or what ever.
Northern Ontario plus Muskoka District, Parry Sound District and Bruce, Grey and Renfrew counties are exempt. It is based on postal code so there is some overlap. I looked this up the other day out of curiosityBeing as this is the Ontario regional forum...most here are from Ontario, which requires an e test every two years....except northern Ontario....not sure where the line is....i think around HWY89 and north is exempt....
that crack was in response to '******'s rant' about "if we'd only given them their 3-row SUV, they would have left us alone"The touareg is perfect as it is. No need for a ridiculous 3rd row in there. Need a 3rd row? buy a van lol
um, yes, you can. I saw a Sharan TDI at a dealer lot in Cambridge, I suspect it came from Mexico.I'd love a diesel van, can't get one.
Those are really jut a Ford with a VW engine...Sigh. I've seen a few running around here in Germany the last week. On my last trip I took a picture of the Ford version parked next to the VW....I'll try and find it when I get home.um, yes, you can.
