Hello, currently driving a 2009 Audi a4 b8 with the cr140 engine and am disappointed with the power output, I am going to have a remap done and if I’m not happy with the outcome I’m thinking on fitting a hybrid turbo to reach that power.
I’m looking for around 220-230 bhp and I’m hoping someone could give a few pointers as to what I’ll need to do to support the turbo and also what turbo is best to upgrade to. I’m pretty new to this so if you could mention some of the disadvantages to this upgrade would be great also.
Also if there’s anyone else who’s done this how does the car drive and do you feel it was worth it to upgrade your internals ?

I did something like that to my B8 CAHA. I installed 52mm MFS compressor to a new CHRA, I pushed around 1.85bar on it (I tuned it). It pulled very nice, but I was limited by DPF. Without DPF you can reach your goal. You can find few websites which are selling BV43A hibrids. We can talk more on that.

wow, I was not aware of a bolt on turbo that could push that power, I live in Ireland so hopefully I can get it delivered, I’m soon to get a downpipe with a free flow dummy dpf. Do I need any supporting mods for this turbo or will stock parts support it ? Would you suggest a upgraded intercooler or hardpipes for the added boost ?

People are using 3.0TDi B8/C7 intercooler, but the aftermarket ones are junk, I returned a Valeo one, the tubes were almost empty. There is a decent option at Darksidedevelopements(link bellow), I know a guy that used it and is very happy, together with BV43A hibrid. He has 220-230HP and 500+ HP on dyno. The only mods are turbo, intercooler, 4barmap and DPF OFF.

was the turbo you linked a reliable turbo ? I am considering buying it in the future. What was your experience with them ?

I didn't bought from XMAN, but I sent you a link from here where this is debated. I know he's a reputable vendor, also here on the forum. There are also others in Europe. Even Darkside has this kind of Hybrid.
If you already make dpf off, you can look to other turbos, but far from plug and play. Ex: GTD1752VRK (or GTD1756VRK hybrid).
It's your choice.

definitely looking for something a bit more plug and play, not willing to spend loads of rearranging pipes etc.I’m happier with getting the intercooler and turbo and enjoying the power increase. Darkside definitely does turbos but they’re said to be more expensive then others. ‘Darkside tax’.
My dpf is currently hollowed but soon to he removed fully so I’ll look more into the bv43 in terms of reliability

I can’t say I’ve any experience in it but I’m soon to start my own exhaust fabrication shop and it would be great to have a introduction in putting tunes on cars, thanks for the offer !
