Conversely, selling a car is really hard right now too because there are so many scammers. I listed my Promaster van for sale, and 95% of the responses are the scammers using fake google voice numbers.

When buying a used car from a private party, I expect the seller to have a folder with all the maintenance and repair receipts generated during their period of ownership plus a recent carfax. That's what I had when I sold my 2005 Jetta TDI yesterday. In fact, the car sold in less than 3 days very close to my asking price.
