I had a couple of things looked at with my local usual mechanic last Thursday on my 2004 new beetle tdi. He put in the temp sensor I have purchased off line and looked into my flashing battery light. I had used a vagcom for the cel light and done a search and found the temp sensor was the most probable thing wrong but I had not had time to replace. Then I had the flashing battery light and found that the alternator pulley needed replacing. I took it to them to make sure it wasnt something else with instruction to let me k now if he found it was indeed the pulley and I would buy it and furnish it for him to replace. Afterwards I drove strait home parked and got up and drove to work the next morning. At work I noticed fluid running out from underneath and on a closer check it appeared to be either brake or some kind of fluid with that consistency.. Drove it home pulled the skid plate and set up on jack stands and looked for the obvious. It appears to have been coming from the back side of the top of the engine compartment. There are two larger side hoses that go into the firewall and just above those two smaller hoses/tubes. The oil substance is running down from those but it looks like it is not leaking directly from those but from somewhere either above or to the passengers side of the car. The color is actually like brake fluid, not the blue but regular and has is oil. Very clean looking and very clear. It ran out about a half a cup at work and then about a 1/4 after I parked it in the drive way. I pulled it into the garage this morning and it only dripped a few drops. After I cleaned everything I could from the under side and started it back up I could see a little more oil and quite a few drops but nothing pouring. I dont know if all has drained out or if the leak as loss pressure. I dont know where it came from exactly and therefore dont know what it is and how much there should be. I probably will take it back but first I would like to know what it is and if they could have possibly caused it. Doesnt look like it but you never know. Any help would be great. thanks
