Does anyone know for sure that the 2013 MY (post January build date) Jettas can be tuned? I remember a few months back saying that the 2013s haven't been cracked yet.

Malone can tune 2013's. I don't know which other tuners can or can't.

I will post a final review within a week.

Initial review:

I was not impressed by any means at all. I initially drove it and noticed NO DIFFERENCE at all. I cycled my key about 30 times and let the vehicle run for about 30 minutes. I then road tested it 15 miles within inner city and highway driving. I was slightly impressed now. I do notice a big difference now. So I dont know if it had to adapt to the car or what, but it's good now. It isn't so much a feel of chipping an ALH with a kerma or rocketchip feeling. It's really more of a powerband curve change. I noticed that the normal power in this ranges up to 2500 and then tapers off.

But now after the tune it changed. Now the same normal power is there up to 2500, but from 2500 and on it has quite a bit more pull and revs out with equal power as well. I will keep everyone posted.

It's like the HP is there added some, but they forgot the torque essentially lol. I got the tune for 425. If I refund it ill ht charged 50. So I would only get 375 usd back. Is Malone really going to be a difference between stock and this unitronic?

Well, update!

I had the pleasure of ripping on a 2011 Jetta TDI 6 speed this past weekend, with stage 2 malone tune, DPF delete, and an intake from malone as well. My final answer is:

I would still choose unitronic!

I am not impressed my any means. Ill keep my UNI tune and enjoy it. Im really starting to enjoy it anyway.

The malone vehicle I drove did roll out some black smoke, and also you could hear the turbo whistle through the intake, but as far as power, it was not impressive at all.

It was probably the malone intake killing the power...........
The OP has the DPF in place which would help low end whereas the other ride was deleted. Part throttle would suffer on the bottom end with less back pressure in the exhaust and/or on the intake side. I see this with just the AFE intake, turbo spools faster across the rpm range improving higher load throttle response (across the whole rpm range really...). I'll bet the OP still has the stock airbox in place...

So the OP wasn't impressed, then was impressed, then drove a Malone tune, wasn't impressed and is still impressed with Unitronic?

Awesome.

July 3rd I had a local dealer in Grand Rapids, mi tune my 2011 jetta tdi with a stage 1 unitronic and stage 1 dsg flash, and first impression it's a waste of money. The boost went up just a tad but took a 4 mpg loss and the dsg 1 tune I don't even think they did it. I have 105k on this car and no difference after the tune. So in the next few days I'm going back to going back to the shop to try again or to get my refund
