Because it was originally a turbo-shaft engine I'll let the "HP" issue slide. Had it always been a turbo-jet, "HP" wouldn't be valid for a unit of measure, "thrust" would.

Horsepower is factor of torque and rotational speed. Because of the conversion from using a shaft as a means of force transmittance, there is now no rotation, no moment arm, and therefore no 'torque' and no shaft from which to determine rotation rate. Instead of pounds of force measured at some distance in feet from the driving shaft center, and some rpm of that eliminated driving shaft, there is just pounds of force.

No big deal when you have that much thrust available :D

Look at the pics of his wife's scooter with the two JSF-100's converted to thrust....Better than 2:1 thrust to weight ratio.....

Wow, instead of producing the 40 mpg of a normal TDi, or the 27 mpg of a normal gas engine, this Bug only produces 5 mpg when you turn on the jet engine, and 0.05 mpg when you turn the afterburner on.

By the way, the engine alone must weigh half the empty weight of the Bug.
