i remember when i got my truck, it must have had 15-40 in it. when i put in 5-40 i saw performance and gas mileage climb. do you think that this would work with the new 0-30 507, or not?

i am sorry i made a mistake i miss read dieseldorf post. the oil i saw was a 5w30 sorry for the misinformation every body.

i don't know that much about it the service writer went and got two quarts out when i was talking to him about what happen to my car.one was the old oil 505.1 and the other was the new oil for the 2008 models and it was a 5w30 506 507.i would remember more about it if i saw the boodle again i think it said S L X i am not sure about the x but i do remember it had S L and one more letter that i am not sure about sorry that i can't be more helpfull.

Does anyone know if the new VW 506.00 and VW 507.01 includes 505.01?

Went to a dealership and they were trying to tell me that 502.00 will work in my PD... I looked at him funny and said, No...please give me the 505.01.

He did look at me funny when I asked him about 506 and 507 ratings.

502.00 not= 505.01 standard. Use either the 505.01, 506.01 or the 507.00

506.00 is a long-life oil for pre-PD motors and therefore does not meet 505.01 requirements

Thanks, I was looking for information about the 506.01 rating. I see that 506.00 is not for PD. Does 507.00 (if it exists) work for PD engines?

Yes. VW507 supercedes all previous VW diesel oil specs with 2 exceptions (V10/R5 motors built before 6/2006). It does exist

Cool then, so I can have more of an option when buying my oil.
