Im new here and would love to make the trip! I just got my third VW! A 03 Jetta TDI Wagon! Prier I have a 97 Golf and a 95 Golf with a trans plat ECO!
Is there going to be a gathering perhaps a bit closer to North Central Il?

Wish I could attend. Already have booked a trip to SD that weekend. I could really use my spare key getting programmed for the car. Wish there was a way just to get the PIN for my car and I could deal with it later.I know I was talking about this and I will probably shoot for early/middle May (so we can have the doors open, etc. I will edit this thread as time goes on.
Here are the details I have so far.

We will be having a parts sale etc. If you want to buy parts let me know what you want me to have on hand.
JFettig and I will be able to do chip tuning on the spot, we are both Malone Tuning dealers. JFettig is the only one with equipment to do 99.5 and older TDI's (we will double check with Mark Malone on a set date to make sure he is available). I would like to have a list of people and cars (year, model, mods) so we can plan accordingly.
Food and stuffs we will have to plan, gas grill is available for use.
We should have a vag tacho cable buy then, so if anyone needs keys immobilized and adapted that will be the time, it won't be free but it will be a LOT less than the dealer
Not sure if my boss will allow any wrenching, but we'll see.
Also if I can get a list of who is planning on showing up.
Let's do this!

Will try to make it as well. Would be interested in Stage 1 for the wifes car so I have an excuse to put a new clutch in if it goes. Not to mention the check engine light that has been since the egr delete performed at the host shop, but that is my own fault for not wanting to get a tune just for the egr delete.

Can the air bag module be reset at this gathering? Or should I send mine in and have it done then go to the TDI Feast in St Louis?

I'm ready to get the Malone software update on my 2014, but unfortunately my nephew's grad party is on the 7th and I'd catch hell if I didn't attend. I'm at about 14k on the car now and when I talked to Malone, he said even if dealer service is needed under warranty the tune is hardly detectable. Anyone have experience with this? Also, I'm debating stg 1.5 vs 2.0. I read that the EGTs can get high without the DPF delete using the 2.0, thoughts on this? I plan on a DPF delete after the warranty is over as well as a 3" straight stainless exh like I had on my MK4, but again, that's a year or so out. Jon, you're likely closer if I came to you for the tune.. PM me and let me know what your schedule looks like the weekends following the GTG. Thks, Matt

I am still planning on attending, just want to verify whomever was bringing their Vagcom cable, are you bringing your laptop along too. I had Vagcom software loaded on my laptop; seems laptop is not working too well. I dropped it last night, so using wifes laptop for now. I'll check back by Friday to make sure. Appreciate the help guys/gals on this.

KCCats, we can tune your ecu, either Merker or I, check out malonetuning.com for more info on that. There are other small things that can be done, there should be others who know how to run vcds that can take care of other small VCDS mods for you as well
Couleetdi - you can install vcds on any laptop to run your cable, the cable is the dongle so that works.
Matt, we can discuss your tune anytime you want, feel free to PM me. EGT fears on these cars are just that, fears. You have 4 EGT probes in your exhaust, one pre-turbo which monitors your EGTs, the ECU will prevent your EGTs from getting too high in any condition. Yes they get hot, exhaust gas is hot They get hotter than your old ALH because these TDI's run much richer due to their advanced fuel system, your old TDI would start to smoke around 17-19:1 AFR, these don't make soot until sometimes below 15:1 AFR. They do make more heat the richer they get!
I'll be available anytime you wanted a tune upgrade, we can chat about that.
