Turbo whistle replaced with a hissing noise?

During the summer, it is my wife who has the longer commutes so she's been driving the work horse for a month or so now. I drove it about a week ago and noticed that the turbo whistle is now a ffffffffff sound. I haven't had a chance to look, but my first thought was a leak. It doesn't seem down on power.

Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

We could never hear a turbo whistle in our '10 JSW 6M. :-(

I had similiar issue, EGR hole was plugged when it was deleted and the plug came off and it made awful hissing sounds and found the plug on the bottom plastic cover and bought a new plug and been fine ever since.

I'll pull the bottom cover this weekend and see what I find.

Failed exhaust flex-joint between the turbo and the DPF? A friend had this happen to her 2013 Beetle TDI and got it fixed under warranty.

I'm hoping it's my imagination, or at least on the exhaust side...

Thank the good Lord, it was a simple issue.

I found a band clamp on the pressure side just below the "throttle body" down behind the radiator that was not even on the hose.

Only bad part is that I think the clamps is defective. Now to find a new one!
