hi, i have a gte2260vz and its a nice unit, titanium compressor wheel 6+6 blades with ETT, water cooled housings (both hotside and coldside ), special turbine wheel (looks like titanium alluminide) as it’s darker than inconel… will be installing in my 2.5 tdi b5 Audi A4 in the next few weeks !
I have to correct you a little bit.
If you are talking about the Audi unit, it's not titanium compressor wheel.
The different colour of the compressor wheel is due to a special coating to prevent EGR particles sticking onto the blades, as these cars have high- and low pressure EGR, where the low pressure EG is directed into the compressor inlet.
The exhaust housing (hot side) is not water cooled, but has a thermal insulation jacket.
The bearing housing is watercooled.
The turbine wheel is made fromMAR247 to withstand higher EGT, like seen on BMW GTD1752VRK.
The compressor housing has water jackets, BUT in OE application, there is no seperate cooling system, so basically it is flown through with normal engine coolant, more or less acting like compressor "heater" up to a certain point where the T2 exceeds the engine coolant temperature, like seen on some BMW R2S systems.
Regarding the Garrett nameplate designations, they are unfortunatelysometimes misleading, or sometimes even plain wrong.
There Are GTB2260VK turbos out there which come with a "GTB1" stamp on the nameplate, there are GTA17 turbos out there wichcome with a GT15 on the name plate and so on. So dont take theses designationsto serious.
However, the 059145873FQ has been superseeded, the old Garrett number was 896758- and had the GTD2263VZK designation, whereas the new number 906551- had the GTE2260V designation.
Which does not mean that they are also correctly stamped on the nameplate ;-)
