Turbo related

Started a long drive last night and not long into the drive I heard a ‘pop’ and lost power.
Couldn’t find any loose connections but noticed an increased whistling noise when in first or second gear. I managed to get to my destination
and it was only noticeable if I had to overtake, on an incline or start the car from a standing start. On the flat it was ok so I think it’s turbo related and I’m hoping it’s a loose connection or something simple. I’m not in limp mode so the car is drivable but can’t get it to a garage ‘til next week. Any helpful advice appreciated.

If none of the boost hoses popped off or split it may be the intercooler split though I don't think I've heard of that happening.
Maybe get a mechanics stethoscope, the hose off it and get a longer one so you can listen along and around the charge tubes and such path.
Do this with just the rubber hose open, not the metallic tip on.
Worked for me once.

Maybe not, since the car only makes boost under load and attempting to use stethoscope while in motion sounds dangerous 😲

You should get very low pressure air out of the turbo at idle I did it once.
