Everyone reporting build date thus far is 7/12-8/12.We need to compare build dates...were they all from the same production and shipped at the same time to the region?

Sorry about your car. Could you possibly provide the "requested info" from the original post.2012 passat, turbo failed about 2 weeks after my 10,000 mi. service..(oil change) failed Jan. 22. In NW Pa. , coldest weather this year, about 5 degrees. The part just came in from Germany...17 days still don't have my car back. An area rep. was actually at the dealership when mine was towed in. He waited around for the verdict on my car, said this was the 5th turbo failure he's seen in his area. This kind of negates all my boasting about great fuel mileage.
Good pointMaybe they mean 4 with snapped shafts, maybe they have old info. It seems that some people are having shaft failures and others are having bearing failures.
I will get what I can, the dealer still has it, so some details (build date, etc) may not be accessible til he gets it back, but I will fill in everything I can. How do you find out the build date? I will get this once the car is back.Could you possibly get a little more info from your dad and answer all the questions in the original post? Thanks
For starters, the engine doesn't have an electric coolant pump. But more importantly, the turbo isn't water-cooled, so it wouldn't matter even if it did have an electric pump.paulk124 said:Their TDI service manager expert claimed that engine coolant continues to circulate after shutting the engine off (is the coolant pump actually electric?).
That's a real good question, guess I better go get my manual. While on this subject does the turbo fall into the drivetrain warranty? I forget what it was 5yrs 60k miles? Does that sound right.

The way it was described to me was any parts that touch oil.....wouldn't that include the turbo?I emailed VWoA yesterday and referenced all of the failures in cold climates and specifically in OH. I asked them to clarify the warranty coverage for the Turbo. I referenced this page.
What I posted earlier was straight from the manual. It doesn't state turbo specifically so I would guess that it isn't covered. The way it was described to me was any parts that touch oil.....wouldn't that include the turbo?
Thanks for confirming that the turbocharger is part of the 5/60K warranty. If you got this in writing from VWoA, please post a copy of it in case anyone runs into issues in the future.Received an email back from VWoA this morning. They assigned a regional case manager to my case. They also confirmed that the Turbocharger is a power train component and covered under the 5/60 warranty.
The RCM is supposed to follow up with me tomorrow.
Thanks for that info, it should ease some peoples minds. That is the email i got back from VW today. I changed the reference number and my name.
