I thought the Turbo unit was covered under VW's 10Yr/100K mile warranty ? How many miles are on your car ?

Call the VW zone representative and request warranty coverage. It's worth a try !

Fiberglass most likely won't work, due to the extreme heat the turbo can produce.

On a long run, the turbo is likely to heat soak the case. Internally you're talking temps over 1000°F. No telling what the case would get to on a long run.

Talk to, or e-mail Mickey, and ask him what type of repair work the guy doing the turbo mods can do.

Lastly, check out the warranty book and see if you're one of the ones still covered under the exhaust manifold clause.
