If I remember correctly, the X denotes a remanufactured part. Don't quote me on that, though.
for some reason I think I remember that one tech saying that the X meant that the core/original part needed to go back for inspection. not that it was reman.

don't quote me on that either though :D

On the repair invoice, it does have a core charge and core return credit. But this is only the invoice, the actual part does not have the "X" suffix. However, more importantly in the part number is the "Q" which apparently is a revision letter, a previous poster with a 12/12 build date has an "E". So the question is, was there a revision in response to the failures?

I took a couple of iPhone pics of the turbo label on my 6/2012 build and it looks like my part number is 03L 253 056 E V120, though it's hard to make out.

So I think we should all report p/n since the letter is not same on different cars.

It looks like latter C before V120?
It's so hard to tell. Here it looks like an E. I really want to disconnect that black connector to get in for a better pic but I'm not f'ing around with stuff I'm unfamiliar with:

So we have two different turbo part numbers so far... a V120 and a V150. Now to wait and see what that means!

Actually three with the V500 a couple others have posted, which mine is as well. I could post the pic, but I'm lazy. You can take my word for it. :)

V120, V150, V500... what does all of this mean?! ;) Very interesting, for sure... now if we can figure out if there is a correlation between these numbers and failures. More part numbers, please! :)

Also, does everyone want to collect part numbers in phlfly's thread? Should I start a survey? Keep talking about it in here?

OK, so the V120 to V150 switch appears to have occurred in Aug or Sep 2012 as we have confirmed a V120 installed in August and a V150 installed in September.

When was the switch from V150 to V500? Have there been ANY failures of the V500 turbos?

If not, and given more time no significant number of them fail, it is possible we may have a winning revision here

Actually there are three different rev V120 , V150 and V500.

I wonder want is difference between them and how many each of them failed or not failed.

Yeah I know there are three, but so far as I can see, first was the V120, then briefly the V150, then lastly the V500. I assume this is the order, anyways.

It seems the V120 switched to the V150 in August or September, and we don't know if/when they switched to the V500, but we do know V500s were used in December builds.

Going off of the data thread, there were many failures for September build, one for October, and one for November, but none for December. If in fact they switched to the V500 from I guess the V150 in December, this could indicate that cars with the V500/December Build is considered updated and less vulnerable to failure.
