Does anyone have experience with a tuner that can tune my 2014 Touareg TDI other than Malone? tia

Darkside does remote tuning as well, but they couldn't get rid of dpf sensor check engine lights for me so I moved to Malone when I got a bigger turbo. Now I'm having more annoyances with their tune like my mileage going out the tail pipe as heavy soot under light throttle.

I've got Oakes on my 2012 Q7 TDI. Stage two with everything intact and the Tranmsission tune.

This is worth checking too... Oakes has diagnosed some hardware problems and has been sharing them on the facebook forums. If you can't access, I'll copy and post the text. for both of you, reach out to @Xtremefunky

see his work for yourself:

3.0:

4.2:

the dude knows his stuff, he tuned my 2.0 when Malone couldnt (compressor surge, black smoke on heavy throttle, poor fuel economy)

Mr Funky's experience is largely in ECU tuning only at the moment. he has ventured into DQ250 tunes lately, for which I have also had excellent experience. malone sent me 3 TCU tune revisions, none of which fixed any issues i had. Funky sent me ONE tune to flash, and it worked right then out of the box. i got an MPG bump too as he was no longer commanding stupid amounts of clutch pressure. i didnt even have to redo my stock file adaptations! it just worked

those 3 words have been my total experience with funky, if you read through my posts i am always recommending him when someone asks about CR TDI tuning, and for good reason.

at the end of the day, malone WILL get you down the road. but theres some nastiness they do under the hood; EGT limiter deleted, coolant limiter bent or deleted, injection duration never exceeds maximum stock level, injection timing is hamfisted (hence the poor MPG and smoke), and oil saturation with soot / fuel.

Funky's prices are also very fair, i paid less for his ECU / TCU tune than I did for malone. goodluck!

Couldn’t agree more with what @lemoncurd said. I had the same experience with Malone and now with Xtremefunky and the car performs extremely well now 😮💨

Dr Volks does good tunes. I would not use Kerma - they say it's a custom tune. but it seems off the shelf as they. can't tune anything. other than. totally. stock setup, so how is that "custom"?

it has been speculated that since kerma is US based, they don't want any undue attention from the EPA for providing tunes for illegal emission modifications.

Also keep in mind that any tune will likely need a DSG tune (if you have one) and without a delete the tunes are usually rated a .5 tune. Tunezilla lite can flash both but as mentioned there are plenty of options

I would strongly suggest using malone. If you want to use a different tuner use darkside.

You get prefix TCU tune for free from Malone for free. Its worth it.
Their tuning system is perfect now with the new flasher and its not account or vin locked.
It is reliable, I have put 200k miles on malone tunes for the 3.0L platform.

Heres a 10% discount for malone https://tunezilla.com/tunes/fbcayennediesel

Is your build documented anywhere? I'd like to bring myself up to speed on what you've done thus far, etc.

I keep saying I'll do a new post on it once it's "finished" but it's never really finished. As it sits, the car runs a 12.36@110mph in the quarter. Basically it's just a darkside 2872 turbo and their stage 1 injectors which are actually just rebranded bitdi injectors and a turbosysytems turbo that I paid a huge markup for unknowingly. I do have all the supporting parts as well, like a bitdi maf, higher reading sensors, and the metering valve which I believe is just a duramax one. I want to put WMI on the car soon but I'm still recovering from trying to fit a Ford cp4 R90 (it didn't work) then a stock R75 pump on. My old pump had some scars on the cam rollers which was causing too low of fuel pressure. The car is my massive money pit but it's so much fun to drive, it's all worth it.

Nice, but way too vague for me.... I'd like to see maf/egt/boost/lambda logs instead.... it's great that you got all those upgrades, but did you really max out the oem maf\injectors\metering valve\hpfp etc. ? Sounds like you're in quite deep.... but at least you're still enjoying. (y)
