Just noticed this thread and thought I would suggest Europro Auto Haus in Kelowna. Kevin Delaney is the owner and he is already on the trusted mechanics thread, just that now he has a big shop by Parkinson Rec Centre. Ed, I've heard a lot of bad things about Auto West and once dealt with owner over the phone and I found him very rude to put it nicely....

I can suggest my friend in Maple Ridge, BC. He has plenty of experience working for dealership shops and has several diesels himself. He is my person to go for any thing regarding my jetta including timing belt, bypass oil filter, suspension...
Any tools - he has it, even VW obd scanner.

It was time for an oil change, oil filter and fuel filter so I thought I would give Tony a try. I caught him at the right time as he spends winters between November and April in South America.

Tony is a very professional guy and did a great job. Everything was done well and he even included dropping the intercooler hose and found a small amount of gunk in it. This should be a regular maintenance item in a CR140 but it is not mentioned in VW manuals.

He does not have any courtesy cars but the mall is only a block away with lots of food places all around. I would definitely have Tony do my next change if he is not on his winter break.

Tony has been working on VWs for many years and is now semi-retired.

Recent I took my 2003 Jetta TDI from California to Prince Rupert for a 6k miles loop in June. I was in Vancouver and called one of the contacts in this Forum for service. The contact was over booked and referred me to Rudy and Peter at 2nd and Main. Thomas at R & P did an excellent job for me. I just want to post my appreciation for a job well done and the extra mile Thomas walked to ensure me that I had no safety issue with my TDI.

I just got my 02 Golf back from VND Motorsport in Surrey a few days ago. (border of Langley) They did a partial head rebuild, turbo, clutch, CV, injectors, nozzles, Malone stage 4 tune etc etc and everything else that goes with it. (very long list) Very satisfied! Car even came back to me with a detailed engine bay. Looked like the day I bought it in 2001! Shawn and Raymond kept me posted at all times of what's going on.

I just got my timing belt done at JSP in Abbotsford. They did a great job! The mechanic told me he rung a liter of oil out of the old timing belt, he showed me the pics. Needless to say they replaced a bunch of seals while they were at it.

I will definitely be back. Thanks guys.

Rudy & Peters, Vancouver

I've been taking my 2004 Jetta TDI Wagon to Rudy & Peters for about 5 years, located at 2nd and Main in Vancouver. The owner, Dirk, has always provided fast and effective repairs, and knowledgabe info, at a fair price. They've been in business as VW specialists for over 50 years, and I believe Dirk's been there for about 25 years.

I've never had any complaints or problems. And they are conveniently located close to transit, including Skytrain station at Main and Terminal.

I know others rave about service providers in Abbotsford and Surrey, but that's a long ways to go if you live in Vancouver's westside. Especially if you only need some basic maintenance such as oil and filters.

Another vote from me for Neil and the crew at Ellice.
I've been taking my '97 Golf TD to them for 20 yrs, and they will be working on my 'new' 2012 Golf Wagon TDI as well. I had them change the springs to raise the wagon, last week.

Gotcha, I guess I didn't pay attention to the thread title, just the west coast forum. Fact is west coast U.S. in general the TDI is uncommon, especially in comi-fornia.

I had my timing belt done by IB Motors in Vancouver BC. I can't say if they are better or worse than the other VW shops but so far so good. Price was fair and job was completed on time. The staffs seemed very knowledgeable and they do have ample experiences in general with VW/Audi cars. I probably will go back for maintenance works that I can't do myself.

I used this thread to source a reputable vendor and selected VND Motorsport, Surrey to do a PPI on a used 06 Golf TDI purchase - thank you ED's TDI. Shawn and team were extremely knowledgable and went above my expectations giving the car a good once over, they knew exactly what to look for. After the inspection he explained in detail what needed attention on the car, what he thought the car was worth, and answered all my questions with patience. I fixed all the items noted and the car passes our Alberta out of province inspection with flying colours.

I do prefer Port moody, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam.
