These guys only do german cars and really know their stuff, they have lots of parts in stock. They installed my rebuilt injectors on thursday, put on vag com, adjusted IQ with road test and checked timing. Mechanic really knew my old baby, explained everything and liked my wuzetem nozzles, asking where I got em (cascade german only place in NA). Reasonable price ($70 hr) and you can bring your own parts!! My car goes great even without a chip and I have to be careful to not blow up my engine the RPMs climb so fast lol. Cost me $80.00 :) (1 hour with tax)

The wall in the garage is covered with letters from happy customers, I do recommend these guys for high tech stuff like timing belt ect., Only bad point is that an appointment takes 5 weeks right now. Another client was having a rear wheel bearing changed and I couldn't believe how fast the car was out of the garage. Family business that's been around for decades with 5 lifts. Cheers

It should be noted that Digi Sport Performance in Denton, Tx. Is no longer around, and has since become Pierce Family Auto. They are still a Tdi shop, but different owner ( I believe a previous mechanic of the original owner).

Not sure when the "Member Recommended TDI Mechanics - By State List" document was last updated, but can anyone recommend a trusted TDI mechanic in or near southeast Michigan? Heck, for good service, I'd probably even be willing to drive a ways. Thank you.

Closest to San Diego is LA, a couple hours away. Anyone know of anyone near San Diego?

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out who's left too. Used to use Derek at Exklusive, he moved away, then moved back and was working for Autobahn. Did my timing belt a couple years ago and he was hands down the least expensive and I knew he knew what he was doing (that was my 2nd TB done by him, and I know several others that used him). Not sure if he's still there. He went through a bunch of crap on this board a while back, which was unfortunate that one incident (he was maybe partially to blame? Not sure...) undid more than a decade of awesome service. If I was him, I would have left the industry but for all I know he's still working there.

Someone else mentioned AZ Euros in Mesa, but I don't know much about them. Looks like the specialize more in selling expensive European cars but they do service them too. They got their name as one of the only shops that can import non-US cars in AZ. I've thought about trying them if I needed someone good with TDI's but not sure a VW Diesel would be high on their priority list looking at their website. Lately I've just been doing work myself (so when it's screwed up I at least know why and what I did).

Independent Auto in Phoenix used to be a shop several people on here took their cars to, but last I heard of someone using them was over 10 years ago. In my experience, mechanics roll over at shops like that so I'd do some investigating.

Wish someone could offer some feedback on other shops. I know the owner of Dana Bros Diesel and Auto repair in Mesa, and they have stellar reviews. They specialize in diesel, but more the big trucks. No idea if they are familiar with the intricacies of TDI's...

Wow thanks so much, really appreciate the leads. Would be awesome if there was someone in Mesa. Thanks for the big truck comments too, although not a big truck, I do have a ‘93 Cummins 5speed. It’s turned up a bit (competition pump, waiting to install injectors and turbo and a F250 fmic.

Yeah, for your truck, I've heard nothing but good things about Dana Bros. They are, however, a full-size shop with full size shop rates (~$140/hr? Maybe less...). So not the cheapest, but their reputation is stellar.

If you use one of those mentioned or try somewhere new, post here or over in the Southwest sub-forum with your experience.

Wanted to see if Wild Rose Motors in Whittier is still the place to go to, or if there is anything closer to San Fernando Valley/Conejo Valley/Ventura offering similar quality.

Any trusted TDi experts in scarbrough (toronto area) canada, I just moved here and Im in hunt for new expert. I contacted Wingnut but no reply yet so Im not sure if he still working on VW. thanks

This is correct. I still go since Robbie left Austin around 2017 time frame and he gave me the referral to Brian's shop in Denton, TX. I am a very satisfied customer with Digi Sport Performance and now Pierce Family Auto.

I am in the Houston area for timing belt service. I have traveled to San Antonio and Austin a couple of times for that.

I haven't heard anything recently from or about the names on the list, but they were all well-regarded in the past.

The guy running this shop is a TDI Club member and a registered vendor. He seems okay but of course I don't know him personally.

Hi, I would like to vouch for Fred. I know I only have a couple posts here, but I got hosed by the Dealer (Ontario VW) and spent a bunch of money there and still needed to replace the Timing Belt. I was looking around for a Tech that was local to me and I came across this thread. I spoke with Fred, he made time to come to my house and got the Timing Belt replaced in no time at all. He even cleaned any mess that was caused. Took the car out for a test drive, shook my hand an was gone. It was affordable and solid work. For the LA Area and even Riverside (where I am located) I will use him for more work on the car and the wifes BMW.

Additionally, ECS Tuning https://www.ecstuning.com/ Had much nicer parts than I had found locally.

Overall. I started out frustrated, now I am happy that my little car is better again.

I like that recommendation -- that shop is about an hour away from me, but since they say they provide free loaner cars, I am hooked. I'll book my next appointment with them -- thank you for the response!
