Link in my signature. Oliver, one of the very best, so I've heard.
We haven't heard from him or about him in quite some time. I hope he's still working on TDIs.

I found a shop in southern Md. to work on my 2006 Jetta TDI. Performed a DSG service and fixed the air bag sensor for ~the same price as a DSG service in Virginia.
I have not had any specific TDI work performed but with all the Mercedes being worked on I am sure they know German diesels.
Shop is: Huntzberry’s Import

Any former Wild Rose Motors clients here that have found a reliable replacement for timing belt changes? I’m struggling to find a good replacement for Leonard Harview.

California has always been spotty since they didn't originally sell them there. But by now there must be a few folks know what they're doing. Try contacting people on the regional forum.

Another major vote for Matt Phelan, he brought my V10 TDI back to life, and really understands all components of the car.
Here's a synopsis of what he fixed for me:
He's such a great mechanic, provides very detailed write ups of what's going on and his thoughts, and stays objective.
1 - Headlight gremlin (wasn't working even after I personally replaced bulb & ballast/control). He quickly knew what the problem was (loose wiring harness - 10 min
fix!)
2 - battery drain (logically deduced it was probably a handful of things, and within a day or 2 traced it to the keyless entry door handles)
3 - shifting issues (transmission fluid was black)
4 - limp mode (lack of clear code why, deduced it was due to a turbo flapper valve issue, fixed it in an hour)
The list goes on. He's just great and knows these cars inside out.
If he thinks it might be a bad part, if he has a known good part on hand, he'll use that in place of buying a new one, to first determine if that's the root of the problem. This monkeying is invaluable as it saves time, unnecessary $$ waste, and increases my own confidence and satisfaction in the service a good mechanic provides.
His details:
Shop Name: NA (it's not really formal, just trust me, whatever it's called, and even though it lacks online presence, he's the real deal)
Shop Address: 640 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, San Anselmo, CA 94960
Phone: (734) 717-7527. (I think it might be best to email or text him though as he's almost always wrenching on something).
Email: matt.gtr@gmail.com

Kraftwerk European (VW/Audi Specialist) here in Marysville WA recently went out of business. Knowledgeable owner, wish it had lasted, but left me high & dry. Can anybody recommend an independent wrench in the Marysville WA area that could do a 5-sp swap on a B5.5 TDi auto wagon? I have the swap kit needed, purchased from Dutch Frans, just need someone in the general area to do the swap.

Trusted tdi shop in Greenville SC / Upstate SC?

Looking at the list of trusted shops, the only one in SC is in Charleston (3 hours) or Asheville NC (1+ hour). Curious if anyone has good experience with any shops here in the Greenville area I can use for maintenance and service? Thanks

That's not true. I'm the original owner and I purchased it in CA. They limited sales in CA to 1000-2000 cars per year, but they certainly sold them here originally. My parents also bought a TDI in 2013 and 2016 here. I'm so desperate, I'm considering having my car towed to a stealership. It's officially inoperable as of this afternoon.

TDIs were sold until 2003. New 2004 TDIs could not be sold in California, but previous-registered TDIs with more than 7500 miles could be imported.

I left California shortly before Leonard abandoned his TDI sales and service business. I never used anyone else, and have been gone for almost 12 years, so I don't know who is available or who is good in Orange County.

Delayed boost, 2004 TDI Jetta BEW

Hello guys, I’m very new to the Volkswagen family and to this forum. I drove a 2005 TDI Jetta and fell in love with it. So consequently I got one for myself which was a 04 TDI Jetta. My car has no boost in first gear up to 2000 revs then it has more than enough. Once in 3rd gear and up it has little boost. Fuel filter has been changed, MAF sensor has been changed. Also timing was off so that was adjusted as well. I am not an expert but I am getting familiar with this car through YouTube lol. Does Anyone else have any ideas on what else it might be? Maybe the boost sensor? Any info will help! Thanks!

I would like to express my general appreciation and gratitude to this forum and all the members as well who contribute to this little corner of the automotive world.

I was contemplating buying a VW TDI product (an Audi A7 TDI specifically) and used the OP to contact a local TDI expert who promptly answered my email with great advice that helped me immensely in my purchase and thought process.

This is another reason why I love forums. It's like having that friend who knows someone who knows someone who can really give you an expert's view. I've been part of many car forums and am glad to have found this niche. It's certainly very interesting and my wife is not too fond of "diesel" but maybe someday I'll be an owner of a VW TDI product but just wanted to say thanks to all who contribute here.

Cheers.

I'm due for a timing belt change. I'm now in Breckenridge, Texas. Any suggestions for the Abilene, Texas general area? Any shop you can recommend?
Thanks,
John

Hey folks I would like to add to the list a small shop in Maryland:
Country Dubs
11250 Pulaski HWY
Suite 4
White Marsh, MD 21162
410.999.1740
Countrydubs.com
On Facebook and messenger

Zach and Nate are both VW trained mechanics that have gone out on their own in a small shop north of Baltimore. I have taken my daughter's 04 GLS sedan here for cooling system work and other things. I also had my wife's 06 Cabriolet (not TDI) clutch done. Very satisfied.

TDIClub is not responsible for the quality of work performed by a mechanic on this list. This list is a compilation of recommendations from other users. Due to the large quantity of shadetree and professional mechanics in our community, we cannot verify the accuracy of all information contained in the list. Skill level varies widely and the onus is on the end user to do his or her homework to determine whether a particular recommended mechanic is qualified to complete said work properly. Finally, be sure to get warranty claims in writing!
A member considering a mechanic on the list should search throughout TDIClub and elsewhere on the Internet for all the information he can find.
Then the prospective customer should thoroughly question the mechanic regarding his equipment, techniques, and the parts he uses. Here is where it's important for the customer to be educated and informed, so he will be able to recognize BS answers when he hears them.
Does anyone know a guy with a transmission auto or 5 speed for a 2001 tdi golf 1.9 turbo diesel? I’m in trafalger Indiana

Two years ago I decided I was going to buy an older Tdi, that I knew nothing about, when I bought my 03 golf tdi I was recommended by the previous owner to take my car to Automotive consulting services in Hatboro ,Pa. since ive owned this car I’ve had to do quite a bit of service to keep it road worthy, Roman goldin @ Automotive consulting services is by far one of the best mechanics I’ve ever dealt with as far as repair time and cost for repairs, he’s very thorough with his work and I haven’t had a single issue yet with his work, I own a few other cars and I honesty wouldnt let a single one of them touch my golf. Anyone in the Pennsylvania area looking to get service done contact Roman Goldin at automotive consulting services (267) 317-8229

ACS has been mentioned before, always in positive terms, and is in the Recommended Mechanics database.
